Blackpool Gateway Academy

We were pleased to have finally been able to hold our Sports Days this week after several weeks of being rained off! Under the shelter of gazebos and with bottled water to keep everyone hydrated, the pupils competed well for their houses & all of them had great fun!

We were super proud of all of our pupils who competed in last week’s Blackpool Youth Games events. You all modelled our core values brilliantly & were commended for your politeness & sportsmanship! Well done🌟!

We launched the World Cup a few weeks ago with an inter-house football tournament! It started indoors due to the weather but moved outside later on. Great teamwork was seen throughout the day & some good football skills! ⚽️

Reception and Nursery children have been making the most of the beautiful weather by taking their learning outside! ☀️ Taking advantage of the cooler morning hours is the perfect way to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine. 🌳📝

👩‍🍳👨‍🍳 Our Nursery and Reception children had a wonderful time stepping into the kitchen this week to craft their own pizzas with a variety of toppings. It's safe to say their favorite part of the day was enjoying the final results out in the beautiful sunshine! 🍕☀️

Early Years turned up the fun to beat the heat today. Judging by all the huge smiles and giggles, it was a massive success! ☀️😎

Our Early Years children had their guessing caps on today when a mysterious parcel arrived. Inside, they found some tiny new friends: caterpillars and ladybird larvae! They've already moved the ladybirds into their cosy 'Bugland' habitat and are buzzing with excitement to watch them transform over the next few weeks. 🐞🐛🦋

Early Years had a blast in PE today, after being set a challenge all about connection and collaboration. The children smashed their first challenge, working together to transfer beanbags from hoop to hoop.
They then brought out the crowd favorite: the parachute! 🪂 It was the perfect way to practice those active listening skills while having an absolute blast.

Nursery and Reception have had a fantastic week diving into the world of minibeasts! 🦋🐝 From designing custom habitats to acting as bug detectives on outdoor hunts, our little explorers have been incredibly busy. They even received special letters from Sammy the Snail and Incy Wincy Spider asking for their help! The highlight was a brilliant day of hands-on exploration—observing real slugs and snails from Mrs. Eddisford’s allotment, hunting for bugs outside and sculpting their own minibeasts out of playdough. What a wonderful week of learning! 🐞🦟🦗🪲🪰🕷️
