OK... another week and another school session completed today. I had the absolute pleasure of spending my morning with the wonderful reception class of St Cuthberts Catholic primary school in Blackpool. And when I say wonderful, I mean EPICALLY wonderful.
Every single little human there had a look, touch, stroke, hold of all of my critters,
And we had the best millipede impression of the year so far...
There is no better way in the World than to spend a morning with these little sponges of information. I LOVED every minute.
Huge thank you to Miss Wright for booking me again,
And an extra special mention to the lad J from year 5 who joined us at the end. He's an animal man and knows his stuff.
Thank you J
Hands on Animals
Providing educational animal encounters for everyone, either at your home or suitable venue of your choice.
Based in Blackpool and travelling all over the north west and beyond, we provide an excellent opportunity for people of any age to handle and observe exotic animals. Using invertebrates, small mammals, reptiles and amphibians we bring the animal world to you and invite you to join in and get HANDS ON!!!
After quite a quiet week for Hands on Animals, we started the new week yesterday ((yes I am that old where we were taught that the week begins on Sunday) with a birthday party session for the lovely Darcey and her friends. Some of them were a little worried and anxious about the animals at first, but everyone soon got into the swing of things and were holding and touching and looking at the amazing things about the animals.
I think Branston was the favourite, closely followed by Bryan the Chinchilla. (Even though she was pooing on everyone... )
Thank you for having me and the animals along Darcey.
Yesterday afternoon was a last minute trip to at the yr6 children at Flakefleet Primary School, who are learning all about animal classification.
The two classes were so enthusiasticand everyone had a go at holding misery of the animals.
A huge thanks to Mrs Shaw for asking me and the animals to come along for the afternoon.

On Sunday 19th I'll be taking part in a sprint triathlon for cancer research to try to raise a few pounds in memory of my mum, who would be 72 on race day.
If anyone has been affected directly or indirectly by cancer you know how hard it is for the patient and families.
My mum died aged 64... I want other families to be able to say happy birthday for a few years now than that.
Please read the story if you have a few spare minutes.
Thank you to all of my customers over the years who still listen to my ramblings
You are all appreciated massively
Kelly's Midlife Crisis fundraiser For everyone affected by Cancer in all forms Back in 2012, while I was up the duff with the pink one, my mum had to get us all together to deliver the news she had been diagnosed with bowel cancer... Which was a shock. We all got behind her and after a few "chop it out" operations or seemed line she was in the clear.... HOW WRONG WE WERE!!! Th...
Today I had the pleasure of an hour with the pre school children at Aiming Higher in Blackpool. And what an amazing group of littlies they were. Keen, brave and so brilliant at taking turns and being super gentle with the animals. I had such a wonderful time.
One little spiderman was so good with all of the critters...I sense mum will be having a huge Christmas list given to her to post to father Christmas this year. 😆😆🐍 🦎 🦉
On Tuesday morning I went to a new place 26th the animals. The Croft care home in Freckleton. What can I say other than it's an absolute privilege to be able to do what I do.
To see the faces of the residents and to see first hand engagement makes me so so happy.
A huge thank you to Dave for giving me amazing advice about my race this weekend... "don't go out too crazy at the beginning or you'll burn out".
The staff were fabulous and my little helper Alice was a huge help.
Thank you to all of the residents, their visitors and the staff for a brilliant morning.
On Sunday me and the animals were invited along to the after party of the beautiful Alex's christening do at the Puddled Duck. What a wonderful party with loads of smiles and some fantastic questions being asked.
A huge thank you to everyone there, and especially to Alex and his fabulous family and friends for making me feel so welcome. Also thank you to Caroline for getting me a few more donations to my cancer research fundraiser.
Yesterday I went to see the lovely Norah and her wonderful friends for her 5th birthday party. What a fantastic group of children they were... everyone held most of the animals and Norah was so brave holding Moominall by herself. What a great party they all had I hope x
Wednesday afternoon and we travelled to Skelmersdale HAF to see the children and mums for the session there. What a fantastic facilityand the children that were there were all absolutely brilliant. Thank you to Lancashire County Council for having me and the animals along again.
We stayed in Fleetwood for yesterday afternoon's sessions with Tommy's at YMCA. There were loads of fabulous families there enjoying all of the activities on offer. As a service run by Lancashire County Council is open to loads of people and is a brilliant resource for families.
The sessions were really well attended and my voice held out. Loads of lovely children there to ask some brilliant questions... one lad was determined to see Bryan the chinchilla so I let him have a sneak peak just as I was leaving.
Thanks to all who attended
(And thanks for my beautiful cheese toastie!!! 😋)
We've just finished the first session of the year at PIP Wyre and it was so lovely being back to see everyone. All of the children were amazing, brave and so so wonderful with the animals, and I hope had a great time. I always love these sessions.
