An incredible afternoon for our Netball teams today ☀️

A message from Mrs Dean:

16 children took part across 2 different leagues at Stanley Park and I can wholeheartedly say I have never been so proud of them all 🤩

All of the children who competed hadn’t played netball before coming to our after school club! They have worked tirelessly week in week out to learn all of the rules (there are many 😮‍💨), perfect the skills and create teams which they can go and compete with confidence and integrity!

✨Our Westcliff Blacks team came away undefeated ✨

⭐️ Our Westcliff Blues won 2 and lost 1! ⭐️

An absolutely amazing achievement from both 👏👏

To see the children enjoy the sport, show an exceptional example of teamwork and respect for the game, all with smiles on their faces - even in this heat ☀️ made me feel extremely privileged to be a small part of their journey! They are an absolute credit to you and to our school!

Anybody who wants more information on joining a netball club outside of school - please come and see me! We have some serious talent!

A huge thank you to Mrs Cox who has also given up her time to help with netball club this year - we couldn’t have done it without you!

As always, a big thank you to our parents who continue to be our taxis and biggest cheerleaders! We appreciate you 🫶

We would like to extend a huge thank you to Mrs Dean for her dedication and commitment in coaching the team week after week, as well as organising matches and fantastic sporting events such as these.

Your encouragement, enthusiasm and unwavering support have helped the children make tremendous progress throughout the year. Most importantly, they have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.

Thank you, to you and Mrs Cox, for inspiring our children, building their confidence and creating such positive sporting experiences for all involved!🏅👏 😀

Youth Games - Day 5

Another busy day on Friday to finish off a fantastic Youth Games Week!

On Friday morning we entered athletics & girls football, both events were fantastic!

In the afternoon some of key stage 1 competed in a multi skills festival at Stanley Park & they loved it!

It was an incredible week this week, with so many children being active both in & out of school.

I still need more pictures for my achievement board on the PE corridor, so keep them coming in please!

Youth Games Week - Day 3

Yesterday was all about athletics
& musical theatre, starting this morning with the athletics competition, musical theatre this afternoon at the 6th form & finishing with the road race after school!

The athletics team did the school proud finishing 3rd, competing in a mix of track & field events, finishing with the mixed relay!

At the 6th form the children took part in a singing & sign language class, followed by a dance class. x

A great turn out for the road race capped off a brilliant day! Thanks to everyone that came!

Special mention to Spencer winning his race 🥇 and Isabella Rose for finishing🥉 in the road run!

🚨 Year 5/6 Netball Dates 🚨

There has been a lot of confusion over the dates and competitions of the competitive netball league, mainly due to the number of cancellations due to weather.

With this in mind I though I would make it very clear about what is coming up:

🏆Tuesday 23rd June 🏆
Blackpool League Matches

This event is after school at Stanley Park and we have entered 2 teams into this. The children have already received letter for this event.

🏀 Friday 26th June 🏀
I have entered us into another competition, again at Stanley Park but this time during school time. Letters for this event will go out after the league matches have finished. Selection for this event will be based on factors such as performance and effort during matches and netball club as well as behaviour in school. We are only allowed to enter 1 team into this competition, so this is the fairest way to do it.

Hope this makes sense now. Any problems or questions please speak to myself or Mrs Dean and we will be happy to clarify anything.

Sports betting has become increasingly visible online, appearing across apps, websites, social media, sports coverage and gaming spaces.

Even when young people are not legally old enough to gamble, they may still encounter betting messages through adverts, influencers, tipsters, friends or adult accounts.

Our latest guide highlights key risks, including:
• Easy online access
• Gambling becoming normalised around sport
• Peer and influencer pressure
• Free bet offers
• Impulsive spending and chasing losses

It also offers practical advice for parents, carers and educators on starting calm conversations, setting safer digital boundaries, spotting warning signs and finding support.

Youth Games Week - Day 1

Day 1 was a busy day with 3 different events attended, lots of laughter & fun but more importantly, providing children with opportunities to represent Westcliff outside of school & to be active!

Year 5/6 football this morning, 3/4 netball & 3/4 football festivals this afternoon were all brilliant & the children loved it!

Just a quick reminder that the Road Race is on Wednesday after school & I’d love as many children there as possible from Westcliff.
