🎨 The Colour Monster took over Tudor House Day Nursery! ✨
Our preschoolers had the best time bringing Anna Llenas’ The Colour Monster to life through messy paint mixing, mindful jar sorting, and colourful outdoor art!
Here’s how our monster-sized fun hit all 7 areas of the EYFS:
❤️ Personal, Social & Emotional Development (PSED) & Mindfulness: Understanding feelings, naming emotions, and sorting them into jars to support self-regulation and emotional awareness.
🗣️ Communication & Language: Talking through story themes, sharing ideas while painting, and describing different feelings.
💪 Physical Development: Fine motor control with scissor work and jar decorating, plus gross motor fun during big splash and splatter painting!
📚 Literacy: Linking art directly to our storytelling book The Colour Monster and practising early mark-making.
🔢 Mathematics: Sorting colours into matching jars, counting monster figures, and predicting colour outcomes (Red + Blue = ?)!
🌍 Understanding the World: Hands-on science of colour transformation and exploring textures, paints, and feathers.
🎨 Expressive Arts & Design: Big canvas splatters, handprint mixing, and creative monster crafts!
Who knew sorting out your feelings could be this colourful? 💛🔴💙🟢
