Today, a group of our pupils took part in a special Prayer Retreat inspired by the life and witness of St Margaret of Scotland.

The retreat provided an opportunity for our young people to step away from the busyness of everyday school life to reflect on the values of prayer, kindness, learning and service. Pupils began the day by joining parishioners at Holy Mass in St Margaret’s Church, Dunfermline, before visiting the relics of St Margaret and making a pilgrimage to St Margaret’s Shrine at Dunfermline Abbey.

Throughout the day, pupils engaged in small group discussions exploring how St Margaret’s example of faith, compassion and service remains relevant today. They also took part in creative reflection activities, produced prayer cards and personal pledges, and planned practical acts of kindness and service that they will take forward within our school and wider community.

The day concluded with a period of quiet reflection, allowing pupils to consider how they can continue to grow in prayer, kindness and service.

A huge thank you to all staff who supported and accompanied the retreat, helping to make it such a meaningful and prayerful experience for our young people. Also a special thank you to Carol our lay chaplain and Fr Synac!

“O God, who made Saint Margaret of Scotland wonderful in her outstanding charity towards the poor, grant that through her intercession and example, we may reflect among all humanity the image of your divine goodness.”

Today, our S4 Modern Studies pupils took part in an informative and engaging session with Frank from the Children’s Hearing System. This provided a valuable opportunity to learn more about the role and powers of the system in supporting young people. The session also gave pupils the chance to ask thoughtful questions, which they thoroughly enjoyed.

Building on their classroom learning, pupils created guides designed to help young people understand what to expect when attending a hearing. Frank judged the entries, selecting the guide that was the most factual, informative, and appropriate for a young audience.

This was a fantastic opportunity for pupils working towards their Modern Studies exam, helping to bring the topic of the Children’s Hearing System to life, an area they may be assessed on.
