Welcome to Beyond the Walls Outdoor Nursery, set within the stunning Roddlesworth Woods. We offer an exciting and unique opportunity for pre-school children to experience the freedom of the natural world first-hand. Our days are filled with activities and play led by the children’s innate curiosity, with our caring and encouraging practitioners in close proximity observing and enhancing their learning. This outdoor approach to learning enables us all to have wonderful, natural responses without man-made restrictions. Here at Beyond the Walls we are proud to be the first Outdoor Nursery in the North of England, fostering the long established philosophies of the Scandinavian and German Forest Kindergartens. Children explore, learn and develop in the outdoors whatever the season. Research shows, that time spent outdoors has a positive effect on children’s health. As parents ourselves, we support this and it is therefore our aim to spend at least 80 percent of our day in an outdoor environment. The Scandinavians believe that “there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes” and we do too! Children can join us for one or more days a week which will compliment attending a more traditional nursery setting.
