We notice such a lot of things when we're with clients: body language, tone of voice, words that are said or not said, even the smallest shifts in energy.

Today, our Sam went to a flower farm. We didn't even know that was a thing round here.
But when she talked about it afterwards, the conversation was so sensory: the calm, the colours, the sight of bees and butterflies, the warmth of the sun alongside the chill of the breeze.

What have you unexpectedly noticed this week when you've not been in the therapy room?

A little reminder that you don’t have to have everything figured out to keep moving.

Sometimes you just gotta slow down and notice the little things - like a squirrel in a tree 🌿🐿️

What typically happens when I’m on the computer…

If you know me, you’ll probably recognise this. 😂

And if you don’t… I’m wondering whether you’re thinking “Ha, yes, me too!” or “God, I couldn’t cope with that.”

Which one are you? 💙

There’s something quite satisfying about getting everything into its place ready for the autumn. ✨

What are the ingredients of a counsellor? 🫖

There isn't a recipe, of course. But curiosity, self-awareness, empathy, openness, reflection and a willingness to keep learning might be a good place to start.

Counselling training isn't simply about learning what to do. It's about developing the knowledge, skills and self-awareness to sit alongside another person with curiosity and purpose.

And perhaps discovering a few things about yourself along the way.

If you're wondering whether counselling training might be for you, our January 2027 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling is now open for applications.

Come and find out what you might bring to the mix. 💙

Zoe has a question for us…

“Why is self-care an ethical responsibility?”

It’s the first of our Question of the Day conversations — and we thought it was a pretty good one to start with.

Zoe has been part of the Training for Counsellors team for a couple of years, and she’s been coming up with questions she’d like to ask us. We thought we’d share some of those conversations with you too.

And perhaps you have questions of your own?

What would you ask us?

Pop your question in the comments. It might just be the next QOTD. 👇

We have some thank yous to give… for some very generous contributions to our Expressive Therapy room – the Sense and Self Room. 💙

🙏🏼 and her family have donated lots of family games. Games can help create a safe, playful space where clients can communicate feelings, practise cooperation, and explore relational patterns through play, without necessarily having to find the words.

🙏🏼 for some awesome toys to support imaginative play – giving clients opportunities to tell stories, explore experiences and express things in ways that can feel less confronting or intense.

🙏🏼 And some very welcome storage has been donated by friends and supporters of TFC, Hayley and Tony. Sometimes it's the practical things that make a space really work!

We're so delighted with how this therapy room is coming together. Counsellors are able to use the Sense and Self Room for client work throughout much of the week, and we're excited to keep developing it into a space where creativity, play, curiosity and expression can have a place in therapy.

But there's more to come… We're giving the room some love over the summer holidays, so we'll be sharing a little more of what we're creating over the next few days. 💙
