An incredible act of bravery!

We would like to recognise Ollie and Harry, two Year 11 students who showed incredible courage and selflessness after school last week.

Whilst walking home, the pair came across a man who had collapsed. They immediately sprang into action, calling an ambulance and performing CPR. Thanks to their quick thinking and actions, the man is now recovering well.

A huge well done to you both for your bravery and selflessness. Your actions helped save a life, and as an Academy, we are incredibly proud of you.

A fantastic achievement for Mr Cattanach!

Last month, he competed in the British Open Brass Band Championship at Symphony Hall, Birmingham, where his band came away as champions! 🏆

The brilliant result also sees the band qualify for the European Championships in 2028.

A huge congratulations to Mr Cattanach and the whole band! 👏

European Day of Languages 🌍

Last week, we celebrated European Day of Languages across the academy.

During form time, students put their knowledge to the test by identifying greetings in different languages and discussing the importance of learning languages and connecting with cultures around the world.

Last Wednesday, we held our annual Open Evening, welcoming Year 5 and 6 pupils and their families to tour the Academy and discover more about life at our school.

A huge thank you to all our students who volunteered their time to help throughout the evening, from giving tours to answering questions and welcoming our visitors.

It was fantastic to see so many prospective students and families joining us ahead of the upcoming academic year.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening such a success. You did the academy proud!

Today, we’re celebrating the amazing people who support our students every single day.

To mark National Teaching Assistant Day, staff and students spent break time writing personal thank-you cards to our wonderful TAs and LSAs.

Thank you for the care, encouragement and support you give throughout our academy. We appreciate everything you do!

Important Notice!

Letters and data check forms have now been sent home with our Y11 students. To help us keep our records accurate and up to date, please review the form carefully and return it to the academy main office by Friday 9th October 2026.

It is important that every student returns a completed form. The information you provide helps us maintain accurate records, communicate effectively with families, and ensure that we act in accordance with the permissions and preferences you have given regarding your child.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

Introducing our new Careers Leader, Mr Ainsworth.

Preparing students for life after school is incredibly important to us. Mr Ainsworth will be working closely with students to explore career opportunities, navigate future pathways and inspire them to achieve their ambitions. Through personalised guidance and support, he will help students make informed decisions about their next steps and future success.

A Summer Refresh 🌞📚

Our site team has been hard at work over the summer, carrying out a range of improvements across the academy. From refreshed classrooms and newly decorated spaces to brand-new flooring in our sports hall.

You may also have noticed our updated external signage. This long-awaited refresh for both the academy and sixth form reflects the branding updates we have introduced over the past year, creating a more consistent and modern identity across the site.

A big thank you to Parkinson Signs Limited for helping us bring this project to life. Supporting local businesses is important to us, so it was a pleasure to work with a Blackburn-based company on this exciting refresh.
