Why attend a Choir Church? Why attend Church at all?

As Christians we believe the full purpose of our lives is to praise God. As we do so we begin to recognize more and more that everything comes from God and to feel even more thankful and full of praise. Worship helps to recognise who God really is, it opens our hearts to what is good. Choir Church is a way for you to rediscover your faith, discover it for the first time, attend a child friendly service and join a new community. Choral Music is the style of worship you can expect along with music you can join in with the choir singing too.

What is a new local congregation?

Choir Church is a new way of engaging with Christianity and Church on a local level. A new local congregation is "A group of Christians who establish and grow new Christian communities where they don't yet exist." One of the scriptures the Church of England often shares around new local congregations is from Matthew 28:16-20.

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

And we are Back. welcome to Choir Church Blackburn 2023. This year our Choir Church will be developing their faith through the Character of Christ. We have new mass settings by Robin Stopford and are looking forward to our second year of the project. If you are new to our page, please give us a Like and Follow. Choir Church is part of Blackburn Diocese Vision 2026 providing a way of engaging with Choral Music, Parish/School life and the Eucharist to start a New Local Congregation.

What is Choir Church?

Choir Church is a model for new worshipping communities, built around children’s choirs in schools, led in partnership with local churches. It offers worship, musical excellence, and spiritual formation designed to build and grow congregations, working for social justice. While it is principally school-based, its worship is open to the wider community of parents, teachers, neighbours and friends.
