☀️ Heatwave Reminder for our Nursery Families ☀️
With the upcoming heatwave, we want to ensure that all of our children stay safe, comfortable, and hydrated throughout the day.
🌞 Suncream
Please ensure your child arrives at nursery with suncream already applied. They should also have a named bottle of suncream in their bag. Our staff will reapply suncream before outdoor play, depending on the UV levels and temperature.
🏡 Outdoor Play
During the hottest part of the day and peak UV hours, we will be staying indoors and enjoying a range of fun indoor activities. Outdoor play will take place when it is safe and appropriate to do so.
💧 Water Bottles
Please make sure your child brings a named water bottle every day. Staff in each room will refill these numerous times throughout the day to keep everyone well hydrated.
👕 Appropriate Clothing
We recommend dressing your child in lightweight, comfortable clothing such as T-shirts, shorts, or summer dresses. Please also ensure they wear suitable footwear, such as sandals with secure straps or lightweight closed-toe shoes, so they can play safely and comfortably.
We will be doing lots of water play and water based activities to help the children keep cool. Please bring a few spare changes of clothes or your child’s swimming clothes if you wish
Thank you for your support in helping us keep all of our children happy, healthy, and safe during the warm weather. ☀️💛

Outdoor learning is valuable because it supports children’s development in ways that indoor learning alone often cannot. In forest school and nature-based settings, children learn through movement, exploration, curiosity, and real experiences.
Here the children released the butterflies into the garden after caring for them so well and nurturing them to help them grow. 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
We then picked flowers to make daisy chains 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

Early writing in the early years (typically ages 3–5) is about much more than forming letters—it’s the process of learning how to communicate ideas through marks, symbols, and eventually words.
⸻
✏️ What is early writing?
Early writing begins before children can form proper letters. It includes:
* Scribbling and drawing
* Making marks that represent ideas
* Attempting letters or writing their name
* Beginning to connect sounds with letters (early phonics)
This stage is often called emergent writing.
⸻
🌱 Why early writing is important
🧠 Supports communication
Children learn that writing is a way to express thoughts, ideas, and feelings—not just something done in school.
📚 Builds literacy skills
Early writing works alongside reading development. As children experiment with writing, they better understand how language works.
✋ Develops fine motor skills
Holding pencils, crayons, and markers strengthens hand muscles needed for:
* Writing
* Drawing
* Everyday tasks like buttoning clothes

The importance of teeth cleaning in early years goes far beyond just having a nice smile—it sets the foundation for lifelong health. Here’s why it really matters:
⸻
🦷 Prevents early decay
Young children are especially vulnerable to tooth decay (early childhood caries). Baby teeth have thinner enamel, so decay can develop quickly if teeth aren’t cleaned properly.
⸻
😌 Avoids pain and infections
Untreated decay can lead to:
* Toothache
* Difficulty eating or sleeping
* Infections that may require dental treatment or even hospital care
⸻
🗣️ Supports speech and eating
Healthy teeth help children:
* Learn to speak clearly
* Chew food properly
* Develop good nutrition habits
⸻
🦷 Protects future adult teeth
Baby teeth act as placeholders for adult teeth. If they’re lost too early due to decay, it can cause:
* Crowding
* Misalignment later on
⸻
🧠 Builds lifelong habits
Starting brushing routines early teaches children that oral hygiene is a normal part of daily life. These habits often continue into adulthood.
