Community Sounds 🎤🌭💕

What a fantastic afternoon at St. Francis CE Primary School today!

Thank you so much to Reverend Bryn, members of St. Francis Church and Immanuel Church, and other volunteers, who organised and supported a wonderful community event at our school.

There were amazing singers and musicians, delicious home made cakes and hot food, and crafts and games for children.

The theme of the day was Welcome Home - a reminder that our churches can be our spiritual family and we are all always welcome.

Thanks to everyone who came along to this entertaining afternoon full of warmth and fantastic community spirit. ☺️

What a fantastic start our Reception children have had! They have settled into school beautifully, quickly learning our new routines and becoming familiar with their classroom. 🌈✨

It has been wonderful to see them making new friends and exploring with confidence and enthusiasm.
We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them. 💙⭐️

Greetings from St Francis School!

We thought we’d share some beautiful photos of our school flowers which are being lovingly cared for by Mrs. Fielding during the summer holidays. 💕🌻

Enjoy the final two weeks of summer and we’ll see you all in September! 😊

Beautiful flowers 💐

Thanks to the gardening club’s hard work we have been surrounded with colour. From tulips in spring to Snapdragons, Wallflowers, Livingstone Daisies, and Sunflowers in summer. Plus, they weeded and looked after the herbs. 🪏

Thanks also to Mrs. Fielding for her enthusiasm, encouragement and dedication towards our gorgeous school grounds. 💕

Our EYFS class were so excited to use the lettuce they had grown in our garden to make their very own sandwiches! 🥬🥪

We created a set of instructions for making a sandwich and the children practiced saying them aloud with actions.

They demonstrated fantastic independence by spreading their own butter, choosing their fillings, carefully cutting their sandwiches in half and wrapping them up neatly in foil.

We took our homemade sandwiches outside and had a lovely picnic together- The perfect way to celebrate all their hard work! 🧺☀️

Poetry by Heart 💕

Some of our Y4, Y5 and Y6 pupils took part in a performance poetry event at Blackburn Central Library today.

Each class had learned a poem by heart, and performed it in front of a large audience, with actions and expression.

They were joined by children from schools across the town and everyone who went thoroughly enjoyed the day!

They had the added treat of sharing the experience with the famous children’s poet, Ian Bland.

Here are the four Y4 children who took part from their class:

School Closure - Extreme Heat

Please share!

As per the School Spider just sent to our parents/carers, we are asking for pupils to be collected from school as soon as possible today.

Those children who are unable to be picked up until the end of the normal school day will be supervised appropriately.

Our decision is made entirely to keep our pupils, and staff, safe: the temperatures in our building today have reached unworkable highs and many children and adults are struggling.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.

Thank you again.

Y6 Waterfight 💦🔫

It’s become sort of a tradition for our Y6 pupils to end their time at primary school with a water fight. There can be no better time than this year for it, after such sweltering temperatures in their very stuffy classroom! 😩🥵

See you all tomorrow! ☺️💕

We have a beautiful array of flowers growing on our grounds at the moment thanks to Mrs. Fielding and her gardening club. Please remind your children not to pick them and leave them to grow so we can all enjoy them. 💕🌼 🌷
