A U G U S T . Painting of the Month

> This picture caused a STORM ⚡️at the Student Exhibition (in August) even though it was made here some time ago (we think in a January Free Choice Paint Club??)

> It’s a very cool illustration created by the formidable Debby K-L! Always up for a bit of experimenting, Debby has the most amazing attitude to every challenge, idea, technique or madness I throw at her. Her response is always a thoughtfully creative expression. Sometimes they don’t work, and we do a lot of laughing! Then sometimes,
Debby knocks out an Absolute Cracker- like this Picture. Kudos to the K-L 👌💪💪

> It was so widely admired and asked about (even photographed and Prints requested!) that I’ve decided we should ALL have a bash at our own version in February 2027, Paint Club.

B R O N Z E . ARTS AWARD

This charcoal drawing is by Laynii; It’s her first, full charcoal drawing! She has chosen to develop her portrait drawing & painting skills for her Bronze Arts Award, in addition to looking at other artists who inspire her.

Laynii chose the phenomenal Wendy Barratt Art as her muse; doing a project on Wendy’s career and artistic development.

Laynii wrote to Wendy; who wrote back answering ALL of Laynii’s questions with the most sincere, kind and thoughtful responses. Thank you Wendy!!! It was a brilliant boost for a young, aspiring artist 😍 Laynii’s favourite quote from Wendy:
“You have to work hard, practice your skills a lot and be prepared for some knocks. If you were a musician, you would be picking up your instrument everyday, if you were an athlete, you’d be in the gym most days - its exactly the same for being an artist. Practice your art every day.”

This summer, I’ve been leading a selection of 13-16 year olds to achieve this Nationally Recognised Qualification over the school Summer Holidays - in association with the Arts Council England Arts Council England & Trinity College London Trinity College London

Each student has taken on their own choice of Arts challenge to develop or learn a new skill.

The Bronze Arts Award is a fantastic way for teens to spend their summer holidays - doing what they love, and getting a qualification at the end. I’ll be doing it all over again in 2027 💪

Ooh what a lovely day - learning Charcoal techniques from scratch with a lovely family of Nana (Beth Powney) and her granddaughters in this One Day Workshop.
Massive well done to Evie for her fabulous Red Panda - despite not really being a fan of the texture she pushed through to create this cracking chap…zoom in if you can, the fur is Awesome…
If fact they were all awesome. 🙌 ⭐️👏👏
