We have been learning about the caterpillar/butterfly life cycle at Sunflowers. The children are enjoying watching our real caterpillars grow quickly whilst reading stories and singing songs about their journey, creating artwork and making themed snacks!
Learning about our world is so much fun! 🌻🐛🦋

We celebrate stories at Sunflowers every single day but here is a quick snapshot of our World Book Day fun at last week!
As well as ‘The tiger who came to tea’ tea party and games to match some of our favourite books, we have been encouraging the children to be authors themselves! We scribe down their stories and then act them out together to bring them to life. We have some budding authors and illustrators here in the making, no doubt! 📚

We are fully into the Christmas swing at Sunflowers now but before showing you all of the wonderful activities and play the children are currently doing, I wanted to share our fun from Nursery Rhyme Week (which turned into more than just one week!) We nursed ‘Humpty Dumpty’ back to health, made real ‘Currant buns’ for the bakers shop, as well as a currant bun maths game, rescued ‘Incey Wincey’ spiders in the water tray and made our very own bus for ‘Wheels on the bus’ outside.
I’ve also added a few examples of our seasonal learning for Remembrance Day, Fireworks Night and Children in Need! What busy Sunflowers we have been this term! 🌻
Festive fun to follow… 🎄

This month at Sunflowers, we've been embracing the beauty of autumn in various ways. Pumpkin-themed activities have taken center stage, including learning a new song and crafting projects that promote fine motor skills and creativity. Regular autumn walks have encouraged us to use our senses and notice the seasonal changes, while activities like sweeping and jumping in leaves have helped develop our gross motor skills! 🍁🍂

We finished another wonderful year at Sunflowers with our annual party to celebrate our mascot Sally’s birthday! The children enjoyed the preparations just as much as the event itself- making hats and decorations, a birthday mud cake and practising party games. Parents were invited to join us for activities, party food and pass the parcel to finish! Wishing all of our Sunflowers a lovely summer break, we will miss you all next year! 🌻❤️
