Today would have been my Grandad Harry's birthday ❤️
He discovered yoga while stationed as a army PE instructor in India. I have memories of him teaching me yoga as a kid and would be in awe of watching his strong practice. Unknowingly he inspired me on a journey that would eventually lead to me to becoming a yoga teacher. I still miss him but I like to think he would be proud of me which helps drives me forward.
The Santosha sign in the second photo came from my grandparents' home. It used to hang outside the front door. Now it hangs in my yoga space. Santosha means contentment and gratitude for what we already have something which I'm reflecting on a lot at the moment. ❤️

Have you noticed the poses you avoid are often the ones that teach you the most?
Boat pose is one of those for me.
It feels like it asks for everything focus, breath, patience, resilience… and the ability to stay when I want to drop out.
I don’t love this pose 🫣 yet I still do it most days anyway. Probably because it challenges me in a way I can’t ignore. Plus it’s also great for core and hip strength.
