It has been another week of sunshine and showers here in Bishop's Stortford but the Well Bean school gardeners have managed to dodge much of the rain. We have been concentrating on getting the flowers and vegetables that we've grown from seed into the garden to make the most of the moisture, so have been planting tomatoes, Nicotiana, Sunflowers and Malope. There's more to go in next week if the weather allows...

Spellbrook's gardeners enjoyed some sunshine as they weeded and planted in the front garden. We put in some Statice, grasses, Malope and the Nicotiana that we've grown from seed. The rain shower held off until we'd packed away, to give everything a really good watering.

A very wet lunch-time prevented us from going into the All Saints Primary School & Nursery garden, so we took shelter to make lavender bags from last summer's cuttings. We have left the hall smelling wonderful!

The Thorn Growers won the sun and shower roulette this evening! We planted dill, cosmos, tomatoes, kale and chard in the school garden, then took some cuttings from the sedum hedge.

We have had a fast and furious session this lunch-time, as the Manor Fields gardeners tried to do everything before another deluge hit. We weeded, planted sunflowers; sowed replacement runner beans for the casualties of half term; Calendula; Cosmos and tomatoes, before giving everything a good watering, just in case the gathering black clouds blew through.

We have spent the weekend talking hanging basket and container soil preparation and flowers. And cake may have been eaten too 😋. Thanks to everyone who attended the workshops here at Well Bean Towers. I'm looking forward to receiving photos of the displays as they settle in.
It has been a week of blustery showers here in Bishop's Stortford but the gardens really needed it, so no complaints here. We are trying to get plants in the ground to make the most of the moisture, as well as sowing seeds to replace other crops that will be harvested before the end of term.
