An exciting day for Blues today 🎉🥳
We had our most exciting delivery yet… our new outdoor play equipment! 💙
None of this would have been possible without the fundraising efforts of the staff, families and local community.
A huge thank you to Jungle wood for making the children (and staff) at Blues very happy 😊

I spy something Yellow... 💛
The children were invited to explore an “I Spy” tuff tray based on the colour yellow, where they eagerly searched through a rice and pasta mixture to find a variety of hidden objects. They showed great enthusiasm and curiosity, engaging in conversations as they counted how many vehicles they could find and looked for the busy bees hidden within the tray. The activity provided rich learning opportunities as the children explored shapes, textures, numbers, and letters, while also comparing sizes such as the smallest and biggest items. They demonstrated developing fine motor skills by scooping, pouring, and using tongs to grasp different objects, showing increasing control and coordination throughout the experience. Well done everyone! 💙

Construction - Building Houses 🏘 🚧
With support, a small group of children had fun making houses form the construction panels, they then squeezed themselves inside the spaces they created. It was very fun and the children had a great time! 💙

Rainbow Spaghetti 🌈
The children were very busy exploring multi-coloured spaghetti. They were busy manipulating various different tools using the fine motor skills. They used three pronged tweezers to pick up the spaghetti and place it into bowls. They practiced cutting skills using plastic scissors, snipping into small pieces. They were mixing with spoons and creating dinner for their friends. Older children have been helped the younger children to identify different colours, and use words to describe how it feels such as cold, soft, smooth. It is always lovely to see them all having fun in so many different ways. 💙

FUNKY FIGNERS 🖐
Each morning as the children enter Blues there are a choice of Funky Finger activities set up for them to explore. These activities focus on the support of their fine motor skills and incorporate other learning and development such as maths, literacy and understanding of the world. The children love these activities and they are a fun way to support and develop later literacy skills such as holding a pen and practical skills such as cutting with scissors. 💙

Exploring Worms 🐍🍃
The children engaged in a variety of sensory and creative activities centred around the theme of worms. They explored two different sensory trays, one representing an underground habitat with soil, spaghetti worms, flowers, and small insect figures. The children showed curiosity as they counted the worms and compared their sizes, identifying the longest and shortest. In the second tray, they investigated a “pretend soil”, where they hid pipe cleaner worms and experimented with shaping the mixture into balls, supporting their fine motor development.
During a craft activity, the children created “magical worms” using kitchen towel, pens, and wooden sticks. Once the worms were made, the children used pipettes to carefully add water, observing with excitement as the worms changed colour and grew. The children were highly engaged throughout, demonstrating curiosity, developing early mathematical language, and strengthening their hand–eye coordination and creativity through hands-on exploration. 💙

Making a Sun-Catcher 🌞🌸
The children listened and used the resources as directed and added pieces of tissue paper the their sticky surface to make their colourful sun-catchers. They were able to identify the colours during this activity and all did a fantastic job in naming them! The children then waited patiently for their Sun-catchers to be completed. 💙
Can you tell they were extremely happy with their finished sun-catchers?😃

‘We're Going on a Bear Hunt’ tuff tray🐻
The children acted out the story with each other, which was lovely to see. While acting out the story thy were able to recall phrases from the book, and move the characters over, under and through. Good work everyone! 💙
