Newborn & Twin Specialist / Sleep Training / Night Nanny / Maternity Care / Overnight Childcare About Hushaboo

Hi and welcome to my page!

In 2013, I decided to create Hushaboo to extend the services I offer alongside my day job as nanny. I have worked with children since 2006, and although I love every area of childcare in which I have worked, I found that helping families with newborns is my ultimate passion. My love for children and problem solving came together in 2012 when I started night nannying through recommendation, and I h

One of the biggest misconceptions about hiring a Night Nanny is that you have to book weeks or months of support.

The truth? Sometimes, just 2–3 nights is all it takes.

Whether it's giving you the chance to recover after birth, catch up on much-needed sleep, or simply have someone experienced by your side while you find your feet, a few nights of support can make a world of difference.

This lovely testimonial is from Samantha who booked just three nights. She got the best sleep she'd had since giving birth, felt refreshed, and gained the confidence she needed moving forward.

Support doesn't have to be all or nothing. Sometimes, a little help at exactly the right time is all you need.

Thank you so much for your kind words and for trusting me with your precious daughter πŸ’œ

One of the reasons I'm so passionate about children's sleep is because I've lived it.

My son had significant reflux as a baby. He was also a mouth breather and never seemed to sleep soundly.

Eventually we discovered he had enlarged tonsils and adenoids causing obstructive sleep-disordered breathing. He had surgery at just three years old, and the improvement in his sleep was incredible.

This isn't to say that every child who mouth breathes has sleep apnoea, or that reflux always means there's an airway problem. Most children won't.

But persistent mouth breathing, habitual snoring, restless sleep, or pauses in breathing are all worth discussing with your GP or an ENT specialist.

As parents we're often told that poor sleep is "normal". Sometimes it is. Sometimes it's your child telling you that something else needs investigating.

Have you ever noticed your child sleeping with their mouth open?

The crying is often the biggest reason parents tell me they don't want to consider sleep training.

And I completely understand why.

As parents, we're biologically wired to respond when our children cry. Hearing those tears can feel heartbreaking.

But here's something that's often missing from the conversation...

Crying isn't always a sign of harm.

Sometimes it's a sign of frustration.
Sometimes it's protest.
Sometimes it's simply your child saying, "I don't like this change."

Even the gentlest sleep approaches usually involve some tears because change is hard. We all protest change in different ways.

The goal isn't to eliminate every tear.

The goal is to support your child through change in a way that feels right for your family.

And for some families, that means choosing not to sleep train at all.

For others, it means choosing an approach that feels supportive, responsive and consistent.

There isn't one right answer.

There is only the right answer for your family.

I'd love to know... what worries you most about sleep training?

Greta has summed up exactly how I love to support new parents – not just during the hours I'm with you, but before, after, and every step in between.

Whether it's preparing you before I arrive, caring for your baby overnight so you can rest, or spending time the next morning answering questions and building your confidence, my goal is always the same: to make you feel supported, reassured and never alone.

I actually spoke with Greta again earlier this week as she reached out for some further support. It meant so much that, months later, she still trusted me to guide her through the next stage of her parenting journey. Those ongoing relationships are something I never take for granted.

Thank you so much, Greta, for trusting me during those precious newborn weeks – and beyond πŸ’œ

20 years ago, I started working with babies.

I never imagined that two decades later I'd still feel just as passionate about supporting families through those precious (and often exhausting!) early years.

This September marks 20 years since I began my career, and I wanted to celebrate that milestone by setting myself my biggest running challenge yet...

I'm running the London Marathon 2027. πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ’œ

I'll be running for The Lullaby Trust, a charity whose work is incredibly close to my heart.

Every day through HushaBoo I help families build healthy sleep habits, but one message has always been at the centre of what I do: safe sleep saves lives.

Despite huge progress, around three babies still die every week in the UK from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). The Lullaby Trust funds research, provides life-saving safer sleep advice and supports bereaved families through unimaginable loss.

Over the next nine months I'll be sharing:
✨ my marathon training (wish me luck!)
πŸ’œ safer sleep information
πŸŽ‰ fundraising events
🀍 reflections on 20 years of supporting families
πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ plenty of highs, lows and hopefully a finish line!

If you've ever worked with me, followed HushaBoo, or simply believe every baby deserves the safest possible start in life, I'd love for you to come along for the journey.

If you'd like to support my fundraising, the link is in my bio.

Here's to 20 years... and 26.2 miles.

Father’s Day often celebrates the big moments in fatherhood: teaching your child how to ride a bike, kicking a football in the park, reading bedtime stories or helping with homework.

But much of fatherhood in the early years is happening when no one’s watching. At 2am. At 5am. In the dark, pacing the landing with a baby who won't settle. Taking over so your partner can get an extra hour of sleep. Learning the difference between a sleeping noise and a wake-up cry. Navigating the exhaustion, uncertainty and pressures that come with becoming a parent.

Whether you're a first-time dad adjusting to life with a newborn, supporting your partner through sleepless nights, or trying to balance work and family life with a baby who isn't sleeping well, these challenges are incredibly common. Yet they're rarely talked about openly.

I'll be sharing tips from on surviving sleep deprivation, but for now, wishing all the awesome dads a very Happy Father's Day πŸ’œ

Becoming a parent can feel overwhelming, and while support for new parents has improved, fathers are still often expected to simply get on with it. Many are balancing work, family responsibilities, relationship pressures and sleep deprivation with very little support directed specifically at them.

That's why I wanted to shine a light on the fathers behind the scenes this Father's Day weekend, and take the opportunity to share some wisdom from who supports fathers through the realities of modern parenting. Together, we've seen that the families who navigate sleep deprivation most successfully aren't necessarily the ones with the easiest babies. They're often the ones who learn how to work as a team.

I'll be sharing some of the lessons Steve has learned from coaching dads through the tiring evenings, sleepless nights, and the challenges of life with a baby. Can't wait? Read the latest blog - link in bio πŸ”—

"I only had 5 hours of sleep last night."
"Well I only had 4."

The quickest way to lose as parents is to start competing over who is most tired. The tit-for-tat score keeping creates an environment which breeds resentment and emotional distancing. This is absolutely the time for a collaborative approach and team spirit.

The fixtures are out. The snacks are stocked. The group chats are buzzing.

Unfortunately, the smallest member of the household has scheduled a feeding at 8:03pm, a nappy explosion at 8:47pm, and a complete refusal to sleep until full-time.

Welcome to the Parenting World Cup.

I first supported Poppy in the summer of 2024 when her twin girls were born, until they no longer needed the night time respite.

They have since encountered a couple of difficult phases with sleep, and as Poppy has pointed out, I love a challenge!

In an ideal world, once sleep consolidates, there are no more sleep bumps and I am not needed! But when they occur, I'm always on hand to smooth it out once more πŸ’œ

Thank you Poppy for your kind words!
