Asking for a friend👀 has anyone got any swaps?
Because I am not currently in the very serious process of filling my Panini World Cup 2026 football sticker book.
And whilst I was not sat opening packs of stickers...It did not get me thinking about collectables and how much are the worth?
One person sees a book of football stickers, coins, programmes, watches, medals being extremely worthless (and childish and waste of time, blah blah blah) and someone else sees something that could actually have real value.
When it comes to probate, that matters.
For Inheritance Tax calculations, collectables and personal possessions need to be valued at their open market value at what they would realistically sell for at the date of death! Not what they cost, what they are insured for, or what they mean sentimentally.
As a general rule, If the estate has to pay IHT or the total value for all possessions exceeds £1500, it should be looked into properly and may need a professional valuation.
So my sticker album is currently valued at £0 until I get it complete and then it would need to be valued independently on my death as it will be worth, in my humble opinion, £1 million at least🤑🤑🤑
So yes, I’m currently chasing stickers…but in the world of probate, the “random stuff” can sometimes be more important than families realise.
Always happy to catch up to discuss all things probate and more than happy to arrange serious business meetings with those who are also collecting and want to discuss swaps? 👀⚽

❓ Quick question...
Have you ever heard of Probate?
💬 We'd love to know...
Before today, did you know what probate was?
👍 Yes – I knew.
❤️ No – I've heard the word but never knew what it meant.
Or let us know in the comments.
Be honest...
Before you had to deal with the loss of a loved one, would you have known what it actually meant?
For many people, the answer is no.
It's one of those terms that you don't often come across until someone mentions it, and even then it can sound confusing.
The truth is, not every estate requires probate, but when it is needed, understanding the process can make a difficult time feel a little less overwhelming.
💜🩷🧡 This week, we had a visit from the wonderful team at Laurelo, who shared their expertise with us and helped us gain an even better understanding of probate and how families can be supported through the process.
We believe the more knowledge we have, the better we can help those who walk through our doors.
There are no right or wrong answers.
We're simply interested to see how familiar people are with it.
Your answer might even encourage someone else to ask a question they've been wondering about.

The morning after the night before…and its safe to say there are a few tired eyes in the Laurelo office today 🥱🥱🥱
But what better way to start the week than celebrating an England win and getting together with the Laurelo - Path to Probate team looking forward to the 2nd half of the year!
Lots to be proud of from the first half of the year, and lots still to come!!
Excited for the second half of the year and surely it’s going to be a little less stressful than watching England at the Azteca! ⚽
Come on England and Come on Team Laurelo!🧡💪

I recently popped in to see Inez and the team at who are one of our SAIF Probate partners working with Laurelo support families beyond the funeral 🧡
And of course… I had to get a look at the now famous office from National Society of Allied & Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) campaign 👀
If you have not yet seen the the link to the video is in the comments 💪
Being out on the road is always a great reminder of what our partnerships are all about across the death sector 🤝 Real relationships and real support for families when they need it the most 🙌
A big thank you again to Inez and the team for having me🧡
They are one of many brilliant independent funeral directors using SAIF Probate, in partnership with Laurelo, to give families a trusted place to turn for guidance around probate and what happens next.

A brilliant three days at National Funeral Exhibition with Laurelo 🧡

It was lovely to catch up with dear friends across the death sector, meet so many new faces, and have some really honest, human conversations about the role we all play in supporting families 🙌

For the first time ever I watched some golf over the weekend...
..when you watch a professional like Rory McIlroy at The Masters he makes it look easy 🤷♂️ I could do that!!!!
⛳Smooth swing. Straight down the fairway. Back to back Masters. No problemo!!
Then you try it yourself 🤣🤣🤣
⛳A few lost balls. A slight bit of frustration. Next thing you know you are spending a bit of money on lessons and new rackets...
Suddenly, it’s not quite as simple as it looked.
Probate can be a bit like that.
From the outside it looks straightforward…until you’re the one actually doing it.
A professional can make something difficult look easy.
Just a thought!
Full disclaimer, until this weekend watching I didn't really like golf 😱😱😱 or understand the golf bug and I have not really played...yet!
But if you do, and fancy a losing few Laurelo golf balls, let me know as they are quite good apparently and you are guaranteed to get a hole-in-one 👀🏌️♂️

I can’t believe it’s been a year since I walked out of the office for four months…🤯🤯🤯
Looking back now, it still feels slightly surreal.
Last year me and our Abs packed our bags (which i always carried) and travelled across Europe, Japan and the West Coast of America 🗺️
What started as a “why not?” idea turned into one of those once in a lifetime chapters you’ll talk about forever...
🗺️ 4 months🌍 8 countries🚗 amazing road trips 📸 thousands of memories
A year later and I’m still incredibly grateful to Laurelo - Path to Probate for giving me the space to step away and experience it. An amazing team to work for and with so if you are interested in finding out a little more on what we do and the opportunities we have available...let me know 👀
On the anniversary of starting the first leg of the journey its been nice to reflect, the trip gave me perspective, energy and a reminder of why the work we do matters.
So what does working in April, May, June and July feel like? I've forgot 🤣🤣🤣😬😬😬

Really excited to finally be able to share this 🙌🙌🙌
We’re incredibly proud to be launching a new partnership with National Society of Allied & Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) supporting over 900 independent funeral director businesses across the UK.
It was a genuine pleasure spending time with the SAIF team and their members at their AGM and conference a couple of weekends ago with the Laurelo - Path to Probate team. Its great to see clear values and a real commitment to doing the right thing for families.
Together, SAIF and Laurelo are launching SAIF Probate, in partnership with Laurelo. This collaboration is built around a simple shared belief...care shouldn’t stop at the funeral 🤝
For many families, that’s when the questions really begin... What do we do next? Do we need probate? Where do we even start?
SAIF Probate provides a trusted, compassionate answer, enabling funeral directors to continue supporting families beyond the funeral, without adding complexity or pressure.
We’ve deliberately modelled the service on the standards independent funeral directors already set: compassion, care, clarity, and in‑person support.
Proud of this partnership. Proud of the people behind it. And most importantly, proud of the impact it will have for families when they need support the most.
