Neurologically, Snap Inc. is a predator to the adolescent brain. It’s the one app I would like to remove from the tween and teen years completely. When talking to principals and school resource officers, they agree.

Recently, the Canadian Centre for Child Protection Inc. surveyed 1300 teens and found that nearly 40% who say they have been s*xually victimized online say it happened via DM on Snapchat. This was double the number of the second platform (Instagram).

Unsealed, internal Snap communications from court proceedings prove they know there’s harm (10,000 reports of s*xtortion monthly).

, parents are begging for more help. Why won't you allow parents to monitor Snaps? Why not provide on-device blocking of explicit or violent content using existing technology (Apple is already doing this in Communication Safety)? Why delete information from your servers so quickly (which helps s*xtortionists and drug dealers)? What is the purpose of Quick Add for a young person? Why can't parents toggle off Streaks?

Kids are supposed to make mistakes. And for some, Snapchat ensures they never forget them. My message to parents remains the same: please keep this app out of your family for as long as possible.

Children and teenagers have their own online language, and it changes all the time.
Some of it is completely harmless. Some of it is slang between friends. But some terms are specifically used to let others know that a parent is nearby, while others can relate to s*x, drugs, alcohol or potentially harmful conversations.
I’ve put together this simple guide to some of the terms parents might come across.
This isn’t about spying on children or panicking every time we see an abbreviation we don’t recognise. It’s about understanding the digital world they are growing up in and being able to have informed conversations about it.
The more we understand their online world, the better equipped we are to spot when something doesn’t feel right.
Please save it, share it with other parents, carers and teachers, and most importantly, talk to your children about what they see and experience online.
Language changes quickly, so I’d also love to hear from young people and parents. What have I missed? What words or codes are children using now that adults should know about?

I hope this week has gone well for everyone? It has been lovely getting to know our new starters, sad not seeing faces we are used to seeing, but excited for their journey at pre school & school.

Typically the weather has turned & its soggy school run again 🙄.

I hope you have all had a lovely summer & enjoyed a bit of a break from routine!

Isla & I have enjoyed time with family & friends camping & having a wee adventure in Sri Lanka 🐘.

We are looking forward to getting back to routine, seeing everyone again, welcoming our new starters & wishing all our pre schoolers from last term the best of luck in starting their school journey (please send me pics of them in their uniform 🥰).

Week 2 of the summer holidays flew by for us, what have you been up too??

Last week we went to softplay, enjoyed exploring at forest school with hot chocolate & marshmallows practiced balancing on the logs, explored the local area, found an apple tree, bee house & the pre schoolers were pointing out letters from their name on signs.
A favourite craft of mine is bread painting, the children loved it & we had a ready made snack!!
A visit to the park with ball games & egg & spoon play finished off our week!

We had so much fun last week, the first week of the summer holidays, with no school runs, we had slower days, and managed a trip on the bus to pitville park last Tuesday.

We loved exploring, climbing, balancing, building a campfire from sticks & leaves, singing, chalking, counting & playing ball games.

We are looking forward to getting out & about this week too, hope yoy all have a fab week Xx

Wow, i can't believe this is the last day of Summer term, what an emotional week this has been.

Our structure tends to go out the window a bit this week with celebrations, end of term treats & party tea, however the sunshine ☀️ has really helped & i have been able to pass my tears off as hayfever 😀.

Its always the most difficult week, saying goodbye to the children who are moving up to pre school & school, although we are incredibly sad to see them leave us, we know they are all ready for their next chapter & excited to hear from their families about how they are doing, I always say, its not goodbye, its just see you later!

We have also had the wonderful Julia here doing her work experience & the children love her ❤️

I am looking forward to a quieter next few weeks before some time off with family & friends, have a wonderful summer break.

I look forward to welcoming everyone including our new starters from Tuesday 1st September.
