A busy week, with a summary of all the wonderful activities 😀

The children enjoyed the reading challenge so much that they continued with activities this week. This included Peppa Pig for the under two's, who went on to create a display board in their middle room. This really support their creativity skills as they decorated Peppa

The children caught fish, ducks and other sealfe in the water after listening to Tiddler, and they practised counting skills when having 10 little pumpkins read at circle time, promoting mathematical development

Our 2-3's have an interest in animals, in particular dinosaurs so explored them in trays, and listened to The three little pigs as they created their houses 🏘

The 2-3s have showed a big interest in camping today. We made a pretend tent and campfire in the garden but we didn’t want the fun to stop there. We decided to create our very own campsite inside too. The children loved pretending to look up at the stars, make campfire stews and read books in the tent.

Alongside this we also made campfire pictures using tissue paper, sticks and glue.

What a wonderful afternoon ☺️ ⛺️

More stories have been enjoyed by the children this week. This is a great opportunity to support the childrens language through learning new words, developing literacy skills, handling books, recalling parts of the story and extending imagination as the children share their own stories 😀

Under twos and 2-3s both have a lovely for a favourite 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt", they made bear faces and explored a sensory tray as they children recalled 'We're not scared' 🐾

The children have listened to "Guess how much I love you", and "Old McDonald', they had a good go at singing old McDonald, and playing in a farm tray.

2-3s have listened to "Octopants", then created their own colourful pants before making crocodiles 🐊 to support "The crocodile who came to tea". Our 2-3's have also enjoyed waterplay as they sprinkled water on their hands, and adding different colours. They explored finding minibeasts in the sand using tweezers to pick them out, developing their fine motor skills.

Pre-school created some pictures, and learnt about the solar eclipse🌒 and they listened to "The Leaf Thief" as they discussed different seasons before painting pictures of their favourite season 🍂🌿

Solar Eclipse 2026

We are all very excited today to catch a small glimpse of the solar eclipse later.

Children have had space parties, decorated solar eclipse pictures and had wonderful conversations about our planet and how to keep safe during the eclipse.

All areas of the nursery have been fantastic with our story challenge this week

Our under two's completed a nature book by exploring a natural tray and listening to the stories "That's not my hedgehog" and "baby hedgehog. They were lucky enough to go out this morning exploring the community to see if they could see any hedgehogs... sadly not but they did see some pigeons and popped to the library 🌿

The 2-3's listened to "Stickman" as they sat on the logs in the woodland area, they then found some twigs and sticks so they could create their own Stickmen, they discussed the weather and completed the weather emoji ☀️Alongside this they explored a sensory tray as they listened to "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" to support repeating phrases 🔄

Pre-school chose a story about pets to listen too ⭐️ after they developed their fine motor skills by drawing their favourite pets. To complete the rhyming emoji 🎵 preschool also listened to "What the Ladybird heard at the Seaside, as the children were fascinated by the mermaids, they then explored a sensory tray to find the mermaids 🧜‍♀️ and enjoyed "The singing Mermaid"

Some many wonderful opportunities to share books with the team, and each other to support communication, and imagination ❤️

Each of our rooms/mini teams chose their own evening out as a little thank you for all of their hard work.

It was lovely to see each team spending time together away from the nursery, making memories and celebrating everything they achieve throughout the year.

A huge thank you to every member of our team for your dedication, kindness and commitment to our children and families. We appreciate everything you do and are so grateful to have such a wonderful team.
