Durham Castle class had a lovely time at Godly Play today at St Paul's Evenwood. We learnt all about the Bible, talking about the different books of the Bible, the stories we know from the Bible and why it can help us in our lives. We also learnt about the Christian calendar and the importance of each time. We then of course had some craft time and finished with juice and a biscuit! Thank you so much to Jean and Anne 🙏❤

We’ve had a fantastic day with author, Adam Bushnell! We created a whole school story with Early Years creating some dinosaur masks, Year 1/2 designing a train to carry them, Year 3/4 creating their own dinosaurs with powers and Year 5/6 writing some dinosaur poetry! What a fun day we’ve had! 🦕🦖🐢

This morning Raby Castle Class had an amazing live lesson with Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler who introduced their new book ‘Gruffalo’s Granny’. At the end we even got the chance to have a go at drawing her 😁

Congratulations to our award winners this week!

Today in Bowes Castle class we have had lots of fun baking and decorating cupcakes! We followed a recipe and measured all of our ingredients to make our delicious chocolate cakes. Of course we had to give them a taste test as well, as you can tell they were yummy!

The children have been a enjoying some freshly picked apples straight from our school apple tree! They were very excited to collect the apples and, of course, had to have a taste! 🍏🍎🌳🍂

Today in Durham Castle class we had our first art lesson focusing on sculpting. We made mini sculptures from foil, paper, fabric and tape and created some amazing creations! 🎨

The first week back at Evenwood ended with us voting for our new Prime Minister and their Deputy - giving them ownership over changes and developments that will happen in school this year. The children took part in campaign speeches and a secret ballot, the votes will be counted and verified over the weekend and the winners told on Monday but based on their speeches, they were all worthy winners.🗳🗳
