As we say goodbye to Water Safety Week here at Grange Paddocks Leisure Centre, we’d like to remind everyone that water safety isn’t just for one week, it’s something we should practice every time we visit water.

To help us spread this important message, we have one of our 2 year olds who attends our Adult & Child lessons and she is here to remind everyone of the Water Safety Code:

🏊 Stop and think
🏊 Stay together
🏊 Call 999 in an emergency
🏊 Float to live

Let’s all do our part to stay safe in and around water, every week of the year.

When was the last time you truly switched off and stepped outside?
This week is all about slowing down and reconnecting with the world around you.
Whether it’s a walk with a friend, sitting in the sunshine on your lunch break or swapping screen time for fresh air and conversation, small moments like these can make a big difference to how we feel.
This week, try a little grounding and let us know how you get on.

The islanders are back… but this time there’s a new challenge!

Tonight’s biggest conversation? Making the right choices around water.

Forget the red flags 🚩 the real green flag is knowing the Water Safety Code and staying safe this summer ✅☀️

Watch as our islanders dive into the dos and don’ts of water safety! 🌴🌊

Being around natural spaces, fresh air and greenery can support our wellbeing, helping us feel calmer, more focused and more connected.

Find your favourite tree, take a moment, and see how nature can help you feel your best 💚

Struggling to get into your favourite classes? 👀✨

Here are some of the key things every member should know about booking Group Exercise classes at Grange Paddocks

✅ Bookings open 8 days in advance at 10pm via the app

✅ The waiting list ends 4 hours before class

✅ Spaces often become available during the final 4 hours before a class starts

✅ Cancel more than 4 hours before class to avoid the £4 dishonour fee

✅ Turn on app notifications and check regularly for last-minute spaces

🚨 Most importantly, if a class says FULL, it doesn’t always mean it’s full. Especially for early morning classes, members often cancel overnight or in the hours leading up to the session, creating last-minute availability.

Many of our busiest classes regularly have spaces become available, so don’t give up—keep checking the app.

A little flexibility can go a long way when it comes to securing a place in your favourite classes.

What if your local leisure centre could help grow more than just fitness? 🌻

This week, Jo and Michelle are joined by Denise Westbury, a volunteer at Berkhamsted Leisure Centre, to talk about the centre’s thriving community garden.

Driven by a passion for gardening and supported by fellow members, the garden has become a place where people can connect, learn new skills and boost their Social Wellness.

🌿 How did the garden begin?
🥕 What’s being grown?
💛 What impact is it having on the community?
🌱 And what are the plans for the future?
