Do you want to help children make a strong start in maths? ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿงฎ

Maths Champions from the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) gives you practical tools and resources to embed early maths into play and routine. It's DfE-funded too, because young children deserve the best start.

If this sounds like something for you and your setting, sign up for an online info session with NCETM Director for Reception and Early Years Sue Evans, and Paula Dunn from the NDNA. Pick a session to suit you: 3.45pm on 13 or 14 October, 17 November or 9 December. For more information go to our website - https://matrixmathshub.co.uk/

Primary Maths Leads: donโ€™t miss the upcoming RISE webinars on raising maths outcomes for KS2!

On behalf of RISE East of England Teaching Exchange, weโ€™re proud to be teaming up with Herts for Learning to deliver four FREE webinars focused on raising KS2 outcomes.

These webinars are designed for KS2 Maths and English Leads and will be presented by our very own Matrix Maths Hub Lead, Mili Prakash, as well as Kate Kellner-Dilks from Herts for Learning and Jenny Wright, Specialist Advisory Teacher at The Hertfordshire amp; Essex High School. Both are experienced education professionals with extensive expertise in supporting schools to improve teaching, learning and pupil outcomes.

During the sessions we will explore practical strategies and effective teaching and learning approaches that can make a measurable impact on pupil outcomes in both the short and longer term. We will also consider the strategic role of the maths subject leader within a primary school, focusing on how leaders can drive improvement, support colleagues, and strengthen practice across KS2.

HUGE Congratulations to Jeff Hughes our AMHL who ran the park run on Saturday 9th May alongside John Westwell our NCETM Director as part of his 40-40-40 challenge. John is aiming to run 40 Park Runs in each of the 40 Maths Hubs by the end of the academic year to celebrate 40 years in education. A huge feat which he is well underway with, 32 now completed and only 8 Park Runs to go! You've got this John ๐Ÿ™Œ

Thanks to Mili Prakash our MHL who went along to show our Hubs support and cheer them both on ๐Ÿ‘

We've told Jeff he now has to do the Park Run every Saturday as that was the only time the sun was out so thanks for taking one for the team Jeff ๐Ÿ’ช

Happy International Women in Maths Day!

This day is celebrated annually to honour women's achievements in mathematics, inspire future generations and promote an inclusive work environment. The date marks the birthday of the late Maryam Mirzakhani who was the first woman to win the prestigious Fields Medal which is often regarded as the "Nobel Prize of mathematics". Maryam was an Iranian mathematician and Stanford University professor who was renowned for her ground-breaking work in geometry and dynamical systems.

To all the women who work in the field of maths, we see you, we appreciate you and today we salute you!
