As another wonderful nursery year comes to an end, we would like to say a huge thank you to all of our amazing children, parents and families for your continued support throughout the year. It has been a privilege to watch the children grow in confidence, develop new skills and create so many happy memories together.

Today we celebrated with a fantastic Nursery Carnival, and what a wonderful way to finish the year! Thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate with us. It was lovely to see so many smiling faces, and your support helped make the day so special.

To our children who are leaving us to begin their exciting journey at school, we wish you every happiness and success in your new adventure. We are so proud of each and every one of you and know you will continue to shine. Remember, once part of our nursery family, always part of our nursery family.

To the children who will be returning after the summer holidays as they move from Daisies to Sunflowers, we can’t wait to welcome you back and watch you continue to learn, grow and flourish in your new room.

From all of us at nursery, we wish everyone a safe, happy and relaxing summer filled with fun, laughter and precious family memories. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your children’s early years—it has truly been a pleasure.

With best wishes from all Staff at Goodway Nursery School 🌻🌼🦋🦋

We are delighted and incredibly proud to share that Goodway Nursery has been awarded the Gold Award in recognition of our commitment to Trauma Informed, Attachment Aware Practice (TIAAS).
The principles of TIAAS underpin everything we are passionate about at Goodway Nursery. They guide the strong relationships we build with our families, the secure and nurturing attachments we foster with our wonderful children, and our commitment to enabling and empowering every child to recognise, understand, and talk about their emotions.
Achieving this award reflects the dedication of our team to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, understood, and able to thrive. We are honoured to receive this recognition and remain committed to embedding these principles in all that we do.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to our families and the many external agencies we work alongside. Your continued support, collaboration, and shared commitment to the wellbeing of our children have played an invaluable role in helping us achieve this award.
Congratulations to the whole Goodway Nursery team on this fantastic achievement. 🌟

Kindest Regards

Today we are taking part in activities for Water Aid

🌏 At Goodway we are proud to hold the GOLD UNICEF Rights Respecting School Award. We understand that every child has rights and we encourage our children in nursery to respect these rights.

🌍 We teach the children that they have a right to nutritious food and clean water, and a clean environment so that children can stay healthy. Unfortunately some children do not have access to clean water or even toilets. There are over 703,000,000 in the world without these basic needs. Which then results in diseases spreading, as they have no option but to collect dirty water from streams or rivers for drinking, cooking and washing.

🌏 So today at Goodway Nursery we are taking part in a Water Aid challenge. The children will collect some water and transport it to another area by carrying the water in containers on their heads, going over some obstacles along the way. Just like some children have to do to collect their water, but they have to travel miles and miles. We hope to collect as much water at the end as possible without any spillages!!!

🚰 Good Luck everyone, and let’s hope the sun shines for us, just in case we get wet!

Heatwave: how to cope in hot weather 22/06/2026

Extreme Weather Update;
There is currently an Amber Heat Warning in place, with
a Red Weather Warning in place for Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures are expected to reach 36- 37°C this week.
Early years children are highly vulnerable to extreme weather, because they cannot regulate their body temperature as efficiently as adults. The children’s safety, along with staff safety and wellbeing , will be our top priority.

At nursery school we will be;
💧 Offering regular drinks of water throughout the day to keep everyone well hydrated.
🏡 Adapting our routine by limiting outdoor play during the hottest parts of the day
❤️ Monitoring every child closely for any signs of overheating or discomfor
A little reminder for parents;
👕 Please send your child in lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.
🧢 Ensure they wear a sun hat every day.
🧴 Please apply sun cream before arriving and send a named bottle of sun cream so we can reapply it throughout the day

We will be monitoring the weather throughout each day to make decisions based on the latest conditions. Please continue to check emails and text messages for any updates.If you would prefer to collect your child at midday, or keep your child at home during extreme weather, we understand.

Thank you for your support – let’s all stay cool this week!

Goodway Nursery children have had a wonderful time taking part in a variety of exciting food based activities over the last term.Through exploring different fruits,vegetables,cereals and other food,the children have been encouraged to use their senses to investigate new tastes,smells,colours and textures.

Our children have tasted and explored unfamiliar foods ,the children are developing their confidence,curiosity and willingness to try something new.
These hands on experiences help promote healthy eating habits,extend vocabulary and support important learning through play.

🐾 Meet Dixon! 🐾

Hana has a Guide Dog called Dixon he comes with her to Nursery.
We absolutely love spending time with Dixon.

Hana explained to our little learners that Dixon is a guide dog.A Guide dog is a working dog who helps people with visual impairment. He is trained to support people by guiding them around when they are struggling to see where they are going, and to help to keep them safe. Dixon has a special harness to wear when he is working, and this means we cannot stroke him, but if the harness is taken off it means we can very gently stroke Dixon.

The children have loved getting to know him and have been fascinated to learn about the important role guide dogs play.

Through meeting Dixon, the children have been learning about kindness, inclusion, diversity, and how assistance dogs help people to live independently. They have asked lots of thoughtful questions and have shown great respect for Dixon while he is working.

We are so proud of how the children have embraced this learning opportunity and of the understanding and empathy they are developing.

Thank you, Dixon, for being such a special part of our nursery family! ❤️🐕‍🦺
