Well that was a great couple of weeks for the Royal School of Needlework in Lexington, Kentucky at the first ever RSN Summer School. Fabulous students, wonderful venue, creativity flowing and getting to work and play alongside ten of my friends and colleagues. Au revoir bluegrass and horse racing county, hello New York City. www.helenmccook.com www.traditionaltextilesschool.com

The traditional Textiles School is run by artisan embroiderer Helen McCook.

The services offered by the school in the heart of Brum are:
1. Classes
2. Lectures
3. Curation services
4. Textiles & art reference library
5. Commissions

Helen studied for her degree in Birmingham in Printed & dyed textiles with non European art history before becoming a traditional hand embroidery apprentice at the prestigious Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court Palace. Since passing with a 92% distinction, she has been adding to her knowledge and expertise by working both nationally and internationally within both commercial and bespoke textiles & fashion. Alongside this she had a book published on Goldwork (metal thread embroidery), has exhibited internationally and teaches and lectures extensively.
Helen is a proud Brummie and is excited to finally be opening a bespoke textiles space within the heart of its historic creative community. She welcomes beginners and experts alike!

Initial class dates for hand embroidery to be posted to the website later today. Other techniques to follow.
