I am so incredibly lucky & grateful to love the work that I do as a self-employed, freelance education consultant. I love the variety & the travel π
Autumn Term 2025 saw me traveling to South Birmingham, Nuneaton, Oldbury, Lichfield, Stratford Upon Avon, Aston, Erdington, Burton On Trent, Worcester, Leamington Spa, North Birmingham and East Birmingham! ππ
I love returning to places for repeat bookings, as it shows that the work I do is appreciated & valued by the schools ππ½ I also enjoy reconnecting in person with my contacts within those schools π But I equally enjoy meeting new people too! π€

Christmas 2023, when I had completed one year with the client I collaborate with the most, I was amazed to receive a box of chocolates delivered to my door and a card from Hotel Chocolat as a thank you in recognition of the hard work we do as freelance consultants.
I love this role and the freedom it gives me, as well as the presenting work itself. But it is hard work, liaising with schools on a regular basis to ensure that everything runs smoothly on the day, double-checking that they understand what will be needed on the day, following up and sending out evaluation links.
That is all in addition to initial liaising to create the bespoke booking for each school, preparing and packing all of the resources for the workshops plus the travel, which I enjoy, but can be long.
So I was thrilled to receive this years Hotel Chocolat Reindeers and will savour them now the festivities are over! ππ
Autumn Term 2025 saw delivery of 67 Workshops across primary, secondary, private, grammar schools & sixth forms! π₯
Proud & Grateful
to issue my 30th invoice as a Freelance Consultant to a fantastic London-based non-profit client!
I LOVE MY WORK! πβ€οΈ

βοΈ Morning Ritual Part 4 βοΈ
1. 4 X Box Breath
2. 4 X Gratitudes
3. 4 X Stretching
So the (delayed!) 4th & final pillar to give your day solid foundations is to set intentions.
Having studied language & linguistics at uni, semantics have always been on my radar. So when I heard about neurolinguistic programming (NLP) around 2000, it resonated & made perfect sense.
The final thing I do before I get out of bed in the morning is to visualize my day ahead going brilliantly, with a happy smile on my face and state 4 things that are happening that day and frame them positively.
EG
My trains run on time and my journeys go smoothly π
The students are engaged & enjoy the workshop π
I eat healthily all day & stay hydrated π
I have time to exercise & enjoy strengthening my body π
Usually at this point, I am feeling motivated and already pulling the covers back, ready to start my day πβοΈ
π· Last November I took the very first train of the morning, at 6.20am! A first for me! Thought Iβd photograph it as evidence! π
Goodness me! I have 60 Financial Education Workshops available for Autumn Term.
36 are already booked!20 more pencilled in!
Still only September! π
Find the joy. Even if it feels impossible β¨

βοΈ Morning Ritual Part 3 βοΈ
So! Weβve taken 4 rounds of Box Breathing π« and truly FELT the gratitude in our body for 4 things we value, which has raised our frequency (which is good for our brain as well as our body! π§ βΊοΈ)
The oxygen we have taken in during the box breathing is helping to awaken our body after sleep but in a gentle, calm way.
Now for a good stretch, all over, to truly awaken our body all over! Each leg in turn, to the count of 4 (of course! π) Then hips, each side of our waist, ribs, arms, back and gently with the neck π€
We are truly preparing our body for the day ahead and all it is going to be doing for us! If you want to, you can even thank your body! For giving you a good nights sleep, for carrying you through yesterday, for being healthy and ready for the day ahead! π€·π»ββοΈ
Anyone who doesnβt know me (and maybe even some that do!) might read this and think Iβve finally lost my mind π But Iβve been reading more & more over the past 8 years or so on somatic practice and know that there are a lot of studies out there that show how beneficial some of these seemingly (too?) simple practices are to our overall wellbeing!
4th and final (and NEW for me!) morning practice incoming! β¨

Super-grateful for bookings already received & those still coming in from previous clients who want to work with me again

βοΈ Morning Ritual Part 2 βοΈ
Yesterday I posted about how I am making a conscious effort to start my days with 4 practices that I feel will help to boost my mental & physical health - for the day, and for life! βΊοΈ
This is all before I get out of bed & even open my eyes! π
After 4 rounds of Box Breathing, I ACTIVELY FEEL & VERBALISE my GRATITUDE for whatever I feel in that moment! At least 4 things! For solid foundations βΊοΈ
It usually centres around what I am physically feeling at the time. So if I am feeling warm & cosy in my bed, I imagine what it is like to wake up NOT feeling that π Then the physical wave of relief & gratitude comes when I appreciate that I AM! ππ½β€οΈ ππ₯°
I usually wake up wanting a big glass of cool water. So again, I imagine, what if I couldnβt just walk into my kitchen and get clean water to drink? That wave of relief & gratitude that follows is raising our frequency ππ½π©΅ π§π°
Sometimes I feel grateful for having work to earn a living & a job that I love. Because I have been in situations in my life where I have DREADED going into work π’ I often feel grateful for the freedom I have in my work now! A rarity!
Sometimes I feel grateful for having my tiny little but very economical & reliable car of 10 years plus! π βΊοΈ That I donβt have to walk in the rain or carry heavy bags on a bus! ππ½
Sometimes I feel grateful for having money to buy healthy, nutritious food, for my family, for the day I have ahead to look forward to, to an event I may be going to β¦ it can be literally whatever is important to you and makes you FEEL that warmth of gratitude in your body. THAT is the key! To cause the energy to shift in your body and raise to a higher frequency. (Iβll do a post on frequency soon!)
I hope that inspires someone to try it and see how you feel as a result! π€

In August I attended a meeting of Economic Justice Brum, facilitated by London-based Barrow Cadbury Trust. One of my freelance roles is as an Economic Justice Learning Advisor on one of their projects.
EJB have been meeting for at least a year, but due to other work scheduling conflicts, I had not been able to attend until now.
It was really interesting and I left feeling optimistic & energized, having met and heard about so many different wonderful grassroots community projects & organizations that are in Birmingham.
And in a weird turn of events, I bumped into a neighbour of 7 years who I have only ever nodded at and said hello! We had a good chat and discovered we have some common ground professionally!
And the icing on the cake is the truly EXCELLENT catering! Literally! π The desserts are phenomenal, along with a complete smorgasbord of delicious vegan hot lunches and a constant supply of snacks. Not to mention the amazing breakfast that greets us when we arrive!
The reason I get so excited and am so grateful for this? I spent 23 years working in state education, where meetings & training events were often not catered at all! At best, a few curled up sandwiches and a cuppa! π
