The Central School of Make-up is Birmingham's first internationally accredited independent make-up school, awarding the prestigious IMA (International Make-up Association) Certificate in Make-up Artistry. We offer a variety of short and intensive courses, enabling the budding Make-up Artist to learn the art, hands on from industry in a creative studio environment. Offering training in Fashion, Ph

otographic, Bridal, Creative, TV/Film Make-up and Hair Styling, using premium cosmetics such as MAC, Make Up Forever, Yves St. Laurent, Bobbi Brown, Chanel and many more. Taught by renowned and acclaimed Guests Make-up Artists, who frequently work on shoots, shows, TV/Film and editorials in London, the UK and overseas. The school is the first of it's kind in the Midlands to offer qualified students valuable experience and potential paid freelance work through its sister company make-up agency Backstage Artists.

Sometimes life gets in the way…..

Sometimes our students train, qualify and head out into the world ready to start their makeup journey… but sometimes, life simply gets in the way. 🤍

Before you know it, a year has passed and suddenly you feel like you’ve forgotten everything you learnt!

Our lovely student Naina came back over the summer for a Refresher Day, with a focus on creating specific glam looks for Asian wedding guests. ✨

A full day of hands on training with our tutor, working up close and focusing on techniques, application and those all important finishing touches, gave her the confidence she needed to pick up her brushes and get started again.

Naina….we think you smashed it! 🙌

Sometimes you don’t need to start from scratch… you just need a little refresher and a confidence boost. 💄✨

The friendships. The connections. The confidence that grows when you’re surrounded by people who share the same passion as you. 🤍

It’s something we see time and time again at CSMU. Students arrive as individuals and, over two weeks in the studio together, something lovely happens. They learn together, practise together, grow and support one another and often leave with friendships that continue long after the course has finished.

Our two week Foundation Level Course is designed to give you the professional foundations to begin your career as a makeup artist.

From professional makeup techniques, colour theory and hygiene, to client consultation, contracts and business planning, you’ll gain hands on experience and work towards a recognised qualification.

We can plan the training.

We can teach the techniques.

But some of the best parts happen all by themselves. 🤍
