Viscom is a special place but it belongs to an even more special place Birmingham Institute of Creative Arts. This new Institute includes the School of Art and the School of Games, Film and Animation, its origins going back to 1843

Message from the Head of School, George
‘ it’s been a challenging year for students and staff, both those teaching, the office staff and the behind the scenes staff. I want to say a big thanks to you all 🙏
Students have been producing great work throughout this last year and were really looking forward to seeing the outcomes in the next few weeks as we enter the assessment stage.
I hope all visitors to this page, friends, colleagues and alumni are keeping well and do stay in touch with the School’

We’re slowly getting back to something like ‘normal’ but there’s strict social distancing in place.
Creative work continues to be made and staff and students are back in Parkside ‘getting on with it!’

Announcing Island Nations, a collaboration between artists and designers from BCU and Joshibi University in Tokyo.
The exhibition is coordinated by Joss Burke and feature the work of Viscom staff Rebecca Howson, David Osbaldestin, Steve Chamberlain, Matt Tromans, Rob Gibb, Nathan Tromans and Andrew Kulman.
The exhibition opens in Japan in May

Some optimism returns as we see a Covid 19 safe workshop for MA Viscom students. The postgraduates are being shown simple printmaking that they can continue to do in their halls of residence or private houses.
