Rubery Nursery School Working together to build brighter futures for the children in our provision. We offer high quality early years education to children up to 4 years of age.

Rubery Nursery School is a local authority school with a committed governing body, a head teacher, experienced fully qualified teachers and teaching assistants. The nursery is on the same campus as Colmers Farm Primary School and Colmers Secondary School. The nursery benefits from having a large outside area and spacious classrooms. The nursery is divided into three units, Willow (2 yr old provision) and Oak/Sycamore (3/4 yr old provision). Oak & Sycamore units are run by an experienced teacher. Staff teams work very closely together to ensure that each child’s needs are met, and that each child can develop to their full potential. The nursery has the equivalent of 124 full time places, although the majority of children attend on a part time basis. Rubery Nursery School is open term time only. Nursery is open to the children from 9am to 3pm. We have different patterns of attendance. Children qualify for a free 15 hour place the term after their third birthday. Beginning of the week place is all day Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday 8:45am to 11:15am. End of the week place is Wednesday afternoon 12.30pm to 3pm and all day Thursday and Friday. Full time places are also available for families that are eligible for 30 hour funding.

Busy Three's 🐝

The children in Oak and Sycamore have been having so much fun so far this term! There has a lot of collaborative play, socialising and friendships blossoming. It has been really exciting seeing the children engage in so many different play across the environment. They are very creative, adventurous and curious children. Well done everyone, we are so proud!

Every half term, a Newsletter will be sent home via Tapestry, with useful dates and upcoming events. Please find attached a copy of our latest newsletter and make sure you look out for future ones throughout the academic year.

We are an allergy aware school and have a number of children with allergies.

To help minimise the risk to children who are allergic to nuts, please DO NOT send in any food items that contain or are made from nuts.

If your child is allergic to anything, please ensure that you have shared this information with the admin team and your child's key person. The most common allergens are displayed on the attached poster.

There are a wide range of other allergens which can cause allergic reactions, including insect stings, pollen and dust. If your child is allergic to anything, it is vital that we know.

The allergy lead is currently Mrs Adams. She welcomes you and your child to school daily.

Rising prices can make life's little treats harder to afford, especially during the school holidays when costs build up for families.

From 25 June to 1 September 2026, the Government is temporarily cutting VAT from 20% to 5% on children's meals in restaurants, children and family tickets to cinemas, theatres, concerts and exhibitions, and admission to a wide range of attractions. Combined with free bus travel during August for children aged 5 to 15 in England, families and young people will be able to enjoy experiences that make summer special, including visits to the kinds of cultural and educational attractions that enrich children's lives outside the classroom.

As part of this campaign, DFE have launched an attraction finder website which allows families to type in their postcode and find participating venues near them to make the most of summer savings. To use the attraction finder, please visit https://summersavings.gov.uk

Morrisons and Kellogg's are offering a free breakfast for children and adults at Morrisons Cafés nationwide throughout the summer holiday period. The offer includes a bowl of Kellogg's cereal (Corn Flakes or Rice Krispies), dairy or non-dairy milk, and a piece of fruit.

The offer is available daily from 29 June to 6 September 2026 at participating Morrisons Cafés across the UK. Families simply need to ask for a 'Kellogg's Breakfast' at the café till. A limit of one breakfast per person per day applies.

The initiative aims to support families during the school holidays when household budgets can come under additional pressure and term-time breakfast club provision is not available.

With the summer holidays just around the corner, children are looking forward to having more free time. For many, this will be spent online. Parents do worry about what their children are doing online, yet very few know of the real dangers and what to do.

NCP's Northfield Beach is returning to Victoria Common this July, providing four packed days of completely FREE cultural activities, entertainment, and workshops. There's something for the whole family, with lots of fun activities for the children and an opportunity to access support through the Community Alley. The Family Wellbeing Team will be there every day. Plus, football coaching with the Birmingham City FC Foundation (10am–1pm), an African Drumming Workshop, and a visit from the Barclays Van.

Saturday 25th July: Journey down the rabbit hole with our magical Alice in Wonderland Day, alongside a full lineup of live acts in the Performance Tent.
