🌿 Learning, reflecting and reconnecting with nature 🌿

Team St Thomas spent today taking part in some hands-on Forest School training, learning, reflecting and engaging with the natural world around us.

We are passionate about the importance of outdoor learning and the incredible benefits of connecting with nature. We’re so excited to bring our new skills, knowledge and experiences back to school — sharing our love and connection with nature with our children and families. 🌱

Our children enjoy weekly Forest School sessions, and we are outdoors every day, exploring, learning and engaging with the natural world around us.

“There is no description, no image in any book that can replace the sight of real trees, and all the life to be found around them in a real forest.”
— Maria Montessori 🌳

❄️ School closed - Friday 9th January ❄️

Due to the extreme weather conditions this evening which are predicted to continue and worsen throughout the night the school has taken the decision to close tomorrow to protect the safety of the whole school community. This storm appears to be creating really hazardous conditions and having assessed all aspects of the situation our Governors feel that it is in everyone’s best interests to minimise travel, keep safe, warm and well and have notice in time to organise yourselves for tomorrow.

We will keep you updated with regard to Monday but hopefully the conditions will have improved by then.

Stay safe ❄️☃️🌨️

✨ Sensory play ✨

Sand, dough, water, foam, shredded paper, lights and music are just a few of the activities we have on offer to engage our children’s senses.

Sensory play supports learning and development, it encourages hands on learning and deep level concentration. Children develop a sense of the world, by being involved and exploring.

It can be messy, but it’s so much fun 🤩
