Learning Through Play Every Day

Play gives children the freedom to experiment, solve little problems, work together and build confidence without it ever feeling forced.

Whether they’re stacking, matching, building or simply trying something in a new way, every activity helps develop thinking skills, coordination and positive attitudes towards learning.

Autumn Makes Learning Feel Alive

This week, the children have been making the most of the season through outdoor sensory play, using natural materials, changing textures and hands-on activities to turn the garden into part of the learning environment.

Autumn gives children so much to notice, handle and investigate, from the colours around them to the different textures and changes happening outdoors. It’s a lovely way to support confidence, observation, communication and independent thinking while keeping learning active and enjoyable.

A Place Where Children Thrive

A warm, nurturing environment where learning and play grow together.

At Cubs Corner Day Nursery, we create a safe and engaging space where children aged 2–5 can explore, learn and build confidence every day. Through play-based learning, creative activities and outdoor exploration, children develop important skills that support their early growth and independence.

Our experienced team focuses on each child’s individual needs, helping them build friendships, communication skills and a love for learning that prepares them for school and beyond.

We also support families with government funded childcare, including 15 and 30 hour funding options for eligible children.

Come and see why so many families choose Cubs Corner.

Showing off their new signs

We hope some of our children have been coming home this week proudly showing off the new signs they’ve been learning at nursery! Our Makaton signs of the week are “Mummy” and “Daddy”. ❤️

Makaton uses signs alongside speech to help reinforce words, support understanding and give children another fun way to communicate. Learning simple signs together can also help build confidence and make communication more inclusive for everyone.

Reading helps children build language, imagination and a love for stories from an early age.

So we created a cosy little spot filled with cushions, soft toys and books, giving the children somewhere quieter to sit, relax, enjoy some story time, or simply have a little nap.

Book a tour with us, come and meet the team and see some of the little details that make nursery life that bit more special.
