Building Blocks Nursery - Kingstanding Building Blocks Nursery first opened in 2002. Nursery within Kingstanding & Sutton Coldfield area. Ages 3 months to 4 years. We also have a spacious outdoor area.

We have 3 branches and Kingstanding was our first.

Providing a magical world of learning and play. We are registered with OFSTED (office for standards in Education) and follow the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) throughout the nursery. Copies of our latest Ofsted report are available on request or can be found on the Ofsted website. We have three main rooms in our n

ursery - babies, tweenies and preschool. Baby room - 3 months - 2 years

This unit has a large open plan room that can be divided to accommodate babies of different ages. There is also a separate sleep area and nappy changing area. Our specially designed baby unit is fully equipped with a wide range of stimulating toys and play materials

We aim to follow your baby's own individual routine in order to help him/her feel secure and settle into nursery quickly. Tweenies - 2 years - 3 years

This is a large room accommodating up to 15 children aged 2 years - 3 years. Throughout the day the children experience opportunities appropriate to their age and stage of development. A variety of opportunities await the children in this room. Preschool 3 years - 5 years

This room accommodates 16 preschool children and has been designed to ensure children can move around safely and make choices for themselves. The staff within this room are supported by an early year's teacher and the team works well to ensure they provide play and learning experiences to cover all seven areas of learning.

We loved reading this recent review from one of our past Kingstanding mums:

"My daughter took a very long time to settle... and they were so patient with her and always updated me. Now my daughter is settled, she is now really thriving and has such good relationships with the staff... The communication with parents is outstanding and consistent."

We know how important it is for parents to feel they can check in at any time. Seeing our children build beautiful friendships and grow in confidence is the most rewarding part of our work! ❤️

🦎 ZooLab Visitors & Garden Spa Fun at Kingstanding! 🛀🏻
We had the absolute best time at Building Blocks Kingstanding, combining some amazing animal encounters with a hilariously "relaxing" day in the garden!

Here is what our busy little learners have been up to:

🐍 A Wild Visit from ZooLab: The brilliant team from ZooLab brought some incredible creatures to meet us, including a friendly corn snake, a Madagascar hissing cockroach, a giant African snail, and a fascinating tarantula! The children were so brave, showing great curiosity as they stroked, waved, and held our creepy-crawly guests.

💆‍♀️ The "Garden Spa" Experience: To cool off, we set up a luxury outdoor spa! Our lovely staff volunteered for some pampering, receiving a highly "relaxing" (and very chilly!) cold water treatment from the children. There was endless laughter as the children took their spa therapist duties very seriously!

Thank you to ZooLab for the fantastic hands-on learning, and to our brave staff for being such good sports!

⚽ A Huge Father’s Day Celebration at Kingstanding! 🥁
Last week we had a fantastic time at Building Blocks Kingstanding celebrating Father’s Day with a mix of music, movement, and football fever!

Our Father's Day Highlights:
🎶 Rhythm Time with Teacher Hannah: We hosted a special music session to celebrate the occasion! Rhythm and rhyme are so important for early language and coordination. We loved seeing our amazing dads, grandads, and mums come in to sing, dance, and shake instruments with their little ones.

🏆 World Cup Fun: In honor of Father’s Day and the spirit of the World Cup, the children and their special guests got stuck into football-themed activities. From penalty shootouts to creative sports crafts!

Our children loved World Bee Day so much that they simply weren’t ready to say goodbye to our fuzzy friends, so we brought the bee theme back by popular demand!

Our buzzing highlights:

🎨 Buzzing Crafts: The children got busy using their fine motor skills to create a whole new swarm of adorable bee crafts.

🍯 Bee Sensory Pits: We set up exciting bee-themed sensory pits, where our little explorers loved digging and hunting for "honeycomb" treasures.

Following the children's direct interests is one of our favourite ways to keep learning magical and engaging! ✨

⚽ Blues, Baggies, Wolves and Freiburg fans LOOK AWAY NOW! 🦁👀
Today at Building Blocks Kingstanding, we celebrated Villa's historic triumph winning the Europa League! 🏆✨

Our Tweenies have been absolutely buzzing about Aston Villa's success, and with so many of the children excited about the big win, our fantastic staff quickly followed their interests to create an entire day of football fun.

Our Champions' Highlights:

🏃‍♂️ Football Skills & Penalties: The children burned off some energy practicing their dribbling, ball control, and taking some brilliant penalty shots outside.

🏟️ Small World Pitch: We set up a mini interactive football stadium inside, allowing the children to use their imaginations to recreate the winning goals with small world figures.

🤝 Teamwork & Movement: Following the children's passion for the sport was a fantastic way to boost their physical development, coordination, and team-building skills.

🇬🇧 A Week of Celebration at Building Blocks Kingstanding! 🥳
We had a truly special week, last week, filled with history, cakes, and a whole lot of nature! Our children have been busy honouring two very important occasions.

Our Celebration Highlights:

🎖️ VE Day Victory Party: To commemorate Victory in Europe Day, we held our very own victory tea party! The children had a wonderful time celebrating together, and they worked so hard drawing their own vibrant Union Jack flags to decorate the nursery. It was a lovely way to talk about peace and community.

🐢 Sir David Attenborough’s 100th Birthday: In honour of Sir David, our little explorers spent the week learning all about the wonders of land and sea animals. We talked about how to look after our planet and the amazing creatures we share it with.

🌟 A Busy Week Recap at Building Blocks Kingstanding! 🌟
What an incredible week of discovery and sunshine we’ve had last week! From welcoming new feathered friends to celebrating special traditions, our children have been busy learning and growing.

Our Week at a Glance:

🦆 Our Special Visitors: We were so excited to welcome three ducklings from our Great Barr branch! The children loved watching them play before they headed off to their forever home. A huge thank you to Keira, who has rehomed them to live a happy life on her farm!

🌍 Earth Day & St. George’s Day: We’ve been diving into themed activities all week! The children explored the importance of caring for our planet and got creative with red and white crafts to celebrate St. George’s Day.

☀️ Sunshine & Nature: Taking advantage of the lovely weather, we’ve enjoyed plenty of spontaneous moments in nature. From exploring the garden to observing the signs of spring, the children have loved every second of their outdoor learning.

It's been a week filled with curiosity, kindness, and plenty of fresh air!

🐣 What a Quack-ing Week at Building Blocks Kingstanding! 🦆
We have had the most incredible week watching a very special miracle happen right before our eyes. The children and staff have been captivated by our duck egg incubator, waiting patiently for our new friends to arrive!

Welcome to the world!
We are thrilled to announce that our eggs have officially hatched. We now have four beautiful ducklings: Lawson, Mr Puddles, Duke, and Lucky.

Special highlights:

🎂 A Birthday Surprise: Our very first duckling decided to make his grand entrance on the birthday of one of our preschoolers! To celebrate the double surprise, we named the duckling after him.

🔍 Early Science: The children have loved learning about the life cycle, observing the hatching process, and seeing how the ducklings have grown even in just a few days.

❤️ Gentle Hands: It’s been wonderful to see our little ones show such care and curiosity as they welcome Lawson and his siblings to the Kingstanding family.

We have a practitioner who is very experienced in caring for ducks, and they already have a forever home with her, so they are always in safe hands.

It’s been a truly magical experience that our children (and staff!) will never forget.

We want to wish all of our wonderful families a very Happy Easter! It has been a fantastic week filled with smiles, spring discoveries, and festive fun.

Throughout the week, the children have been busy engaging in a variety of Easter and spring-themed activities, exploring new textures and learning all about the changing season together.

We hope you all have a wonderful break filled with joy and relaxation. We can’t wait to hear all about your long weekend!
