West House, which was founded as a day and boarding preparatory school for boys in 1895, is a charitable trust run by a Board of Governors. Today, it is a preparatory day school for boys between the ages of 4 and 11, with the co-educational West House Nursery caring for children from twelve months.

It’s been a fantastic start to the football season for West House, with plenty of skill, enthusiasm and teamwork on show.

Our Under 9 A and B teams welcomed Hallfield School on Tuesday, securing impressive 2–0 and 9–0 victories. On Wednesday, the Under 11 B Team continued the winning start with a 3–0 victory over Norfolk House A Team. 👏

Well done to all the boys involved. We’re looking forward to plenty more football this season! ⚽

Stay strong whenever things go wrong.

Today, we are delighted to celebrate a very special milestone - 30 years of Alistair Lyttle at West House School.

Alistair’s connection with West House began long before he became Headmaster. Walking through the school doors as a boy in 1980, he quickly developed a love for the unique spirit of West House - a place he describes as relaxed yet purposeful, incredibly friendly and bursting with opportunity.

That experience has continued to shape his vision for the school today.

As we celebrate 30 years of dedication, leadership and commitment to West House, we would like to thank Alistair for everything he has given to the school and the generations of boys and families whose West House experience he has helped to shape.

A lot has been happening across the school as our pupils settle into new routines, explore new environments, and make the most of opportunities to learn in different ways.

Our Year 4 pupils have been getting stuck into Forest School, enjoying the opportunity to learn outdoors, work together and develop new skills in a different setting. 🌿

Meanwhile, our Reception pupils have been getting settled into their new environment, exploring their classrooms and sharing some of the favourite books they’ve brought in from home.

Alongside these experiences, we’re also excited to be getting our new Creative and Active Learning (CAL) programme underway for pupils in Years 3–6.

The programme encourages pupils to try something new, develop new skills, discover new interests, and enjoy learning in different ways.

There’s certainly plenty going on at West House, and we can’t wait to see our pupils continue to embrace all the opportunities on offer!

We encourage our boys to be truthful, take responsibility for their actions and have the courage to always do the right thing - even when it isn’t the easiest choice.

We’re hoping to get a few West House old boys together for a relaxed afternoon on the course and, more importantly, a chance to catch up with old friends.

Non-golfers are also welcome! Come along from around 5.00 pm for a drink and, if you fancy staying, a relaxed bar meal.
