Family Fund is the UK’s largest charity providing grants for families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people. Last year, we provided over 150,000 grants or services worth over £48 million to families across the UK.
They provide grants for a wide range of items, such as washing machines, sensory toys, family breaks, bedding, tablets, furniture, outdoor play equipment, clothing and computers. It can be a struggle financially, emotionally and physically for families raising a disabled or seriously ill child, and these grants help break down many of the barriers families face, improving their quality of life and easing the additional daily pressures.
The pupils in D group at Dovedale got creative with a design challenge by making potato heads, using different natural and man-made materials. Pupils have also learnt why wearing wellies on the farm is a fundamental must !
On Thursday Year 11 pupils from Dovedale and Parkway visited London and The Tate Gallery, The Barbican Theatre and The Globe Theatre.
The staff and pupils travelled on the train and the underground, which for some was a new experience! The day was filled with lots of walking along the South Bank, taking in some of the famous sights, and exploring the collections and a theatre production at the venues. The pupils were a credit to our school with their exemplary behaviour and positive attitudes, the staff are very proud of them.

Ewan is raising money for Ward 18 at B*H in memory of his friend Connor. He would like to use the money raised to buy sensory lights for the ward.
They are not asking for large donations, they would rather lots of people make small donations of even just £1. The challenge will run until schools break up for Christmas so they will have time to purchase the projectors and deliver them to the oncology ward for the children and teenagers to enjoy over the Christmas period.
Please donate to help bring a smile to a child suffering from cancer this Christmas, and in memory of Connor’s caring giving nature.
If you would like to contribute a donation , here is the link - https://www.gofundme.com/f/in-memory-of-connor-powell?member=23645539&sharetype=teams&utm_campaign=p_na+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=customer
Subsidised THRIVE training for Birmingham schools – available for a limited time.
Thrive is a therapeutic approach to help support children with their emotional and social development. It is a whole-school approach based around, current studies of effective learning and current models of child development – in order to help the school to understand the needs being signalled by children’s behaviour. Key staff trained as Licensed THRIVE Practitioners within schools can carry out assessments of identified children’s social, emotional and behavioural needs which help to build an Action Plan of targeted strategies and activities to help children re-engage with learning and life.
The Thrive Approach is ideal for professionals working in education - individual schools, multi-academy trusts (MATs) and local authorities - social care and the health care sectors, those supporting families in the community, and also for parents and carers.
