๐Ÿ“ข Important Update for Parents and Carers โ€“ Northfield Centre

Dear Parents/Carers, following an initial investigation by the local authority we have been informed that there is a minor gas leak on the Northfield site. This has also impacted Longwill School.

Further investigations and repair work are due to take place over the next few days. Whilst this work is taking place the gas supply has been turned off to the site which means that there is no hot water on and therefore for hygiene purposes and obligation to legal requirements we have no other option but to close Northfield from Tuesday 9th September 2025. We are unsure how long the closure may take but it is highly likely that it will be for the rest of this week. We will of course let you know on potential reopening as and when we are informed by the Local Authority.

During the closure and in line with our attendance policy safe and well checks will be done in person where necessary.

Today your child will have been issued with a school laptop and from tomorrow it is compulsory for your child to attend online teaching delivered by their teachers. Pupils have been informed of how to access online teaching.

We apologise for the inconvenience and we will continue to press for a reopening as soon as possible. If you have any further questions or concerns please contact Julia Smith or Rachel Savery.
