What a way to start a new week 💙

A huge congratulations to Ayla and Myla, who enjoyed a fantastic weekend competing at the Elevate Dance Competition!

On Saturday, the girls achieved an incredible 1st place in their Lyrical category!

The success continued on Sunday, with Ayla securing 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, while Myla achieved 1st and 3rd place across their categories! 🥇🥈🥉

What wonderful achievements! Well done girls! We are incredibly proud of you both!

What a busy and brilliant week it has been!

From hands-on Science investigations and creative Computing, to learning through play, inspiring visitors and celebrating achievements beyond the classroom, our children have once again shown what makes The Shrubbery School such a special place to learn and grow.

Throughout the week, we have seen our pupils demonstrate so many of our 6Rs while embracing every opportunity with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Year 6 pupils welcomed another fantastic visitor as Mrs Panesar, a dentist, came into school to share an insight into her career and the journey involved in becoming a dentist.

Mrs Panesar explained that dentistry is about so much more than looking after people’s teeth. It requires you to be a great communicator, to help people feel safe and reassured, to have a strong understanding of science and even to think like a detective when working out what might be wrong!

It was another brilliant opportunity for our Year 6 children to learn about the wide range of skills that contribute to a successful career.

Year 6 had the pleasure of welcoming Dr John Price, former Headteacher, ISA Ambassador and Doctor of Philosophy, who shared his career journey and experiences with the children.

A particularly inspiring message from John was:

“Nothing gave me more pride than seeing young people achieve.”

We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 pupils and the maturity, respect and responsibility they continue to demonstrate when welcoming visitors into our school.

Year 6 welcomed some more visitors as part of their Science learning, exploring how animals adapt to their environments to survive.

The children investigated fair testing and variables before carrying out a practical investigation to discover which implement made the most efficient bird beak.

They also had the opportunity to develop their artistic skills through observational drawings and paintings of finches.

A fantastic afternoon of curiosity, investigation and creativity!
