🏆 What a fantastic way to begin our final half-term of the academic year!

A huge congratulations to Hugo, who recently competed in the Dublin Open Freestyle Wrestling Competition and achieved an outstanding result. Hugo was crowned the u9s Dublin Open Champion 2026, winning all three of his bouts without conceding a single point throughout the entire competition.

We are incredibly proud of his success and the way he has represents himself both on and off the mat!

Congratulations Hugo and his coaching team at MA Academy. A truly outstanding achievement! 🥇🤼‍♂️

Whether it’s splashing in a paddling pool or diving into beach adventures, children are naturally drawn to water, especially in the warmer weather we have experienced the last few days. But with all that excitement comes real risk, Wake up Wednesday together with the Royal Life Saving Society UK have created a guide that covers everything from decoding beach flags and ditching inflatables in open water, to teaching kids the life-saving ‘float and call’ technique.

Our whole school enjoyed a fantastic No Pens Day, after our class ambassadors challenged teachers to think creatively and ditch the pens for the day.

Year 6 took on a series of fun Taskmaster‑style team challenges, from building marble runs to recreating famous movie scenes and racing to complete an alphabet hunt. Their teamwork and enthusiasm were brilliant.

Year 2 linked the day to their minibeast topic by creating bug hotels using natural materials, thinking about habitats and caring for living things.

Year 4 spent the morning developing spoken language through a No‑Pens English session, building rich sentences aloud and creating models to describe. In maths, they continued the hands‑on learning with practical activities exploring number and place value with decimals, focusing on mathematical talk, reasoning and collaboration.

A wonderful day of creativity, communication and teamwork across the school — all inspired by our ambassadors’ brilliant idea to join in with Speech and Language Uk's nationwide initiative.

AI is becoming a familiar part of young people’s online experiences, with a growing number of school tools and entertainment platforms now using it 🤖✨. This guide breaks down what AI really is, helping adults explain it clearly and realistically so children don’t overestimate its abilities or trust it unquestioningly.
