Today we’re pleased to launch a dedicated Research Centre which aims to translate biomedical science into healthcare benefits for patients. Did you know that bladder cancer is a common cancer with over 10,000 patients diagnosed each year in the UK? Which means there are 40-50,000 patients living with the disease at any one time.
Our multidisciplinary team aims to improve treatment for bladder cancer patients by ensuring that the right patients receive the right treatments at the right time, by developing new drugs and new surgical approaches. Hear more from Director Rik Bryan about the future of bladder cancer care.

Sadly, one in five children with cancer will die from their disease, and those who survive often have lifelong chronic and life threatening conditions. During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and we spoke to PhD student Eleni about her research. Aspiring to become a paediatric oncologist, Eleni’s research focuses on the immune system and how this is affected by cancer. She hopes by understanding how cancer escapes the immune system, scientists can develop new treatments that are more effective and less toxic for children with cancer.
