I wanted to share something a bit honest today

A while ago, I fell out of love with painting my peg dolls. What started as something really special to me slowly became quite disheartening. I spent so much time researching, sourcing and creating unique designs , especially my chunky 8cm dolls , only to then see very similar versions appearing elsewhere.

I’ve always been open and happy to help others, sharing where I find supplies etc. But it became difficult when those same designs were copied and sold cheaper. At one point, even the shape of my dolls was replicated after someone sent off my designs to a manufacturer in Shanghai, they refused to stop using my designs which was tough to see after all the time and care I’d put into building something original. It really upset me. As a small business its hard to fight.

Behind the scenes, there’s also been a lot of work to make sure everything I create is safe and compliant (CE & UKCA testing), alongside increasing Etsy fees… and it all just took the joy out of it for a while.

The truth is — I love painting. It’s always been my creative outlet and something that really supports my mental health (especially navigating ADHD, which I understand more now). But I lost confidence along the way and let imposter syndrome get the better of me, so I went quiet.

Recently though, I was asked to create a custom pirate order… and I loved every second of it. It reminded me why I started.

So last night, after recovering from a migraine, I picked up my brushes again and created something 🤍

This feels like a little step back to something I truly love.

I just wanted to take a moment to say a huge thank you 🤍

This week has been incredible for my little Etsy shop. Since sharing my mystery boxes on here, the views have gone up so much and I’ve had quite a few lovely orders come through 🥹
