Last night we witnessed thousands and thousands of people attend from around the uk and abroad listen to the tafseer of surah Al Ikhlas in a very unique manner. All brothers and sisters halls were jam packed to full capacity. Gathering great numbers is easier when it’s for Naat, poetry, sports events or business functions but coming in such high numbers to study the Quran and Sunnah is awe striking. Although we’re living in a time of decline, especially when it comes to the study and teaching of the Quran and Sunnah, last night proved somewhat otherwise. Last night was an evening of hope. It taught us that by conducting gatherings like these, we can redirect the youth of the uk from the darkness of ignorance towards the light of Ilm and Ma’rifah.

During the Shaykh’s talk, we saw hundreds of youngsters in tears when hearing the narrations in relation to the difficulties that the companions endured to preserve the religion of Al Islam. We watched them taking copious notes and showing great interest, especially when the difficult objections of atheists were being answered one after the other. A spectacle like last night was truly heartwarming. In order to ensure that our youth are strong in their belief and prepared in tackling difficult questions, it is of immense importance that they connect themselves to circles of knowledge like these and attend regular educational gatherings like those at kanz ul Huda. Everyone can invite a handful of people, narrate some stories and feed them at the end of the majlis but getting thousands and thousands to attend, making sure everyone, young or old, practicing or non practising, are comfortable having their needs met, all whilst equipping them with the knowledge of Tawhid and the refutation of atheism isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

A part that really stood out for me was the Shaykh’s analogy of Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens….had us all in stitches 😂.

It was nice to see Arabs, Africans and people from other ethnical backgrounds attend and benefit alike. Many reverts and advanced students of knowledge were also in attendance.

After the event the shaykh gave special time to the reverts and spoke about some of the wisdoms of our religion and its role in our lives till fajr Jama’ah.

Not to forget the children’s mini mawlid which catered for hundreds of infants. All the children were full of excitement and learnt about the seerah of Rasoolullah, upon Him be peace and rights of parents in a child friendly environment. They were busy in various activities like reading, colouring, and being taught about the life of our Master SallAllahu alayhi wa aalihi wasallam! The children’s mini mawlid was conducting by DBS checked teachers of kanz ul Huda who teach in primary schools by profession.

Remember, events like these don’t just simply happen because of some passionate remarks or once a year invitations, rather an event like this takes place because of the weekly tafsir gatherings we have each and every week. Weekly gatherings in which people come from far and wide to quench their thirst of understanding the Quran, having their doubts removed through the two hour long weekly lecture followed by educational meetings till salat ul fajr.

To conclude, I would like to thank all the brothers and sisters of kanz ul Huda who volunteered and came forward to help out for the sake of Allah. No doubt, they will be rewarded for the thousands of attendees that left with a plethora of answers and intricate understanding of what Tawhid actually is!

We pray to Allah subhanahu wa ta’aala to allow us to continuously strive in his path and allow us to make a change in the lives of millions worldwide. No doubt, the true celebration of Mawlid is teaching and studying the sunnah of Rasoolullah SallAllahu alayhi wa aalihi wasallam.
