Private tutor with 6+ years private tutoring experience and 2+ years university level teaching exper I wanted to build something of my own and work towards it.
I started tutoring in 2010 just after I finished college, initially it was just a home-home service and something I would do in my spare time as a hobby. While I was studying for my BSc Mathematics degree at university my peers worked in many different places, wether it may be retail, restaurants, admin etc. It always helps to have a part-time job as a student, but I didn't take that route. Even i
f it meant sometimes working for free or putting in more hours than required. So I stuck at it, I kept tutoring and always tried to improve my teaching skills and find new methods to adapt to different students. I carried on tutoring even when I started my Masters in Applied Mathematics. I personally feel that knowledge is not limited to what you learn in a classroom, you can learn something everyday, sometimes without realising it. The worst thing you could do with knowledge is keep it to yourself. Share your passion, your knowledge and help others also appreciate your passion. As time went on I got busier with private tuition. I was working weekends and also weekday evenings and it was not feasible to maintain this with my other jobs. I loved tutoring, but maintaining a home-home, one to one service became very difficult. I hated letting students down or saying I can't fit them in, I felt like I was letting myself down. I then decided to start my own private tutoring service in January 2016, where I teach in very small groups. I also hold various workshops throughout the holidays.
