🌹 Veterans' Day 2026

We proudly hosted our 17th annual Veterans' Day event, bringing together students, staff, veterans and distinguished guests in a moving act of remembrance.

We were honoured to welcome the Lord Mayor of Birmingham and Simon Topman MBE DL, who represented the West Midlands Lieutenancy. During the visit, guests viewed battlefield relics on display and met with both veterans and our students.

Thank you to Doug Smith MBE, who continues to organise this important event each year, ensuring our students understand the importance of remembrance, service and sacrifice.

πŸ† CIPFA Management Games Champions!

Congratulations to seven outstanding Year 12 students who have been crowned winners of the CIPFA Sixth Form Management Games at Birmingham City University.

After finishing as joint winners last year, the Swanshurst team went one step further this year, taking the title outright and outperforming teams from across the region.

The competition challenged students to manage a newly formed local council, taking on senior roles and responding to realistic scenarios under significant time pressure. Tasks included producing reports, solving complex problems, handling unexpected challenges, and presenting their proposals to a panel of industry experts.

The judges were highly impressed by the team's professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively under pressure. Well done to all involved! πŸ‘

This week, we hosted a Pride Panel as part of Pride Month, giving students the opportunity to hear from guest speakers about their experiences, careers and perspectives on inclusion and equality.

The discussion encouraged thoughtful questions and highlighted the importance of creating environments where everyone feels seen, valued and respected.

🐝 The Swanshurst Spelling Bee 2025–26

Students from across Years 7–10, 12 and 13 worked incredibly hard, learning new spellings week after week and competing for a place in the Grand Final and the title of β€˜Queen Bee’.

We were also thrilled to see so many creative entries in our Spelling Bee poster competition.
