We’re delighted to share that The Old Station Nursery Group has been shortlisted across four categories at the 2026 Nursery Management Today Awards.

From the dedication of our individual team members to the experiences created for children across our nurseries, we’re incredibly proud to see their work recognised among this year’s finalists.

🌿A Morning Of Outdoor Adventures 🌿

Our Pre-school Children have had a wonderful time exploring our secret Garden today.

Despite the wet weather, we were still ready for an adventure in our wet suits! 🌨️💦

The Children, enjoyed using their imaginations, with the usage of all our resources and outdoor equipment.

Pre-school expressed how excited they were, when they were able to see how much their Pumpkin and Sunflower seeds had grown and developed 🎃🌻. Its so enjoyable seeing their curiosity and excitement beam over their creations.

And, of course, no outdoor adventure, would be complete without a little bit of FUN!

The Children finished the morning by rolling around the grass, giggling and enjoying the rainy outdoors alongside their peers
before coming back inside to get changed, washed up, ready to enjoy their scrumptious lunch 🍁🌱

Overall a fun filled morning for our Pre-schoolers Exploring, Discovering, Learning, and most importantly enjoying lots and lots of laughter!

🌟 THE NEW TERM IS NEARLY HERE! 🌟

We’re getting ready to welcome all of our term-time-only children back to nursery after the summer holidays! ☀️💛

We hope you’ve all had a wonderful summer filled with lots of fun, adventures and special memories. We can’t wait to see all your happy faces again and hear about everything you’ve been up to!

💛 YOU’RE BACK AT NURSERY ON MONDAY 7TH SEPTEMBER 2026! 💛

That’s right — Monday 7th September is your first day back! 🎉 We can’t wait to open the doors and see all your lovely faces again as you start another exciting term with us. 🥰

We’re also very excited to be welcoming some new little faces to our nursery family over the coming months! 🌈💕 We can’t wait to meet you all and begin this exciting journey together, filled with new experiences, friendships, learning and lots of happy memories.

Some of the children in Pre-School have been sharing their wonderful stories from their holidays or the holidays they are about to go on. That we have created Pre-School's own beach for them to reenact their amazing memories, splashing in the sea, eating ice creams on the sun loungers and listening to the sea through the shells.

This morning Explorers have been using their fine motor skills through the use of pipettes to create their own flavoured ice cream. The children have been communicating about why we have ice lollies during the hot weather. The children have also talked about the different flavours of ice lollies and matched the flavours to colours, for example: green is mint, yellow is lemon and blue is blueberry.

Today in little Discovers we have explored a melted ice cream gloop activity. The children used spoons to scoop up the ice cream and put it into the cones and bowls. We focused on the children's hands eye coordination as they tried filling the bowls with gloop. The children also used their fine motor skills as they felt the texture of gloop with their fingers.

🚒🔥 **A Visit from Our Local Fire Fighters!** 🔥🚒

Today in nursery, the children were very excited to welcome some special visitors — our local fire fighters! 👩‍🚒👨‍🚒

The children had a fantastic opportunity to learn all about **fire safety** and discuss what to do in an emergency. The fire fighters showed us the equipment they carry on their fire engine and explained what each item is used for. 🚒🧯

The children were especially excited to take turns **spraying the fire hose** and experiencing what it is like to use some of the equipment! 💦 The fun continued when one of our practitioners had the opportunity to put on the fire fighter’s uniform — the children loved seeing it up close and learning about the protective clothing the fire fighters wear. 👩‍🚒

It was a wonderful, hands-on learning experience, helping the children develop their understanding of **fire safety, the important role of fire fighters, and how they help keep our community safe**. ❤️

A huge thank you to our amazing fire fighters for taking the time to visit us and make learning about fire safety so much fun! 🚒👏
