National bird watching week
Last week at nursery we took part in the NSPB week and we completed a range of activities across our preschool rooms to take part. We started off by reading short stories and watching videos about different species of birds that are present around us in nature and we were given a tick sheet of different birds to find with our families whilst out in nature.
We searched our nursery garden using binoculars and then made our own. During craft sessions we created our own bird collages and made apple bird feeders to attract more birds to our nursery garden. We had so much fun!

🌟MEET THE TEAM - BARBARA 🌟

41 years ago, I started my journey in as a nursery nurse at a hospital where I cared for children with additional needs. This was very rewarding to have the opportunity to make a difference and to encourage them to reach their full potential.

After 16 years at the hospital, I had the opportunity to start a mother and child playgroup, where I loved so see the children to grow into independent learners. I am dedicated to make a difference to all our families. I became a Children’s Centre manager where I was able to share my knowledge and experiences with our team. I encourage all staff to enhanced their knowledge and qualifications. When I was 40 years old I graduated at Worcester University in ‘National Professional Qualification in Integrated Centre Leadership’.

At the centre we were able give advice to families on day-to-day parenting and sign post to other professionals. With all knowledge I gained at the children’s centre I have been able to share at our nursery.

Strong relationships have been built up over these years, where children I have looked after are now parents and have brought their children to our nursery to be cared for.

🌟MEET THE TEAM - STACEY🌟

At Santos we have a close team who are there to care for and nurture your little ones . We thrive to create a home from home experience for them.

I have worked with children for over 18 years. Once I was qualified in childcare I found my passion for looking after babies. I had started as an assistant baby room leader and from there I progressed to room leader.

I then went on to further my knowledge and experience within a children centre where I supported family support workers and families in the local community with babies and children’s early years development. I worked along side health visitors, maternity support workers, schools and social workers. I gained so much from this role but after becoming a mom to my two boys I wanted to return to my first passion of looking after babies.

I love to help and watch the babies develop and create a homely environment for them whilst away from home. I also enjoy supporting parents in this transition as I know how daunting it can be leaving your child in the care of others.

🟡Children in need 2021 🟡
The children in rising stars have had a busy few days with lots of Pudsey activities. We've had playdough, colouring, pencil control sheets and stories about children that will be helped with all our donations today.
The children all looked fantastic in their pajamas/ pudsey clothes! It's been a lovely day 😃

We are very happy to announce we have been awarded a “Good” by Ofsted inspectors in our recent inspection.

Today in baby room we have been exploring the edible mud made out of coco powder and water.
We explored the different texture of the mud eg dry mud and wet mud some of us explored by touching, tasting, looking and mixing etc.
We moved the different farm animals through the mud and made random marks we looked at the marks getting left behind with interest.
Some of us copied and repeated simple animal sounds and then we started to sing "oh MacDonald " whilst playing and exploring.
We all enjoyed taking part in this activity.

Today in preschool we made our own scented playdoh with ingredients from our herb garden, we used lavender, mint and thyme.

We then took it into the garden and used a range of tools to roll, press and print different shapes and pictures into our playdoh. Some of us decided to create animals which was so much fun 😃

The theme of the week in Circus room was "the very hungry caterpillar" we began by exploring and reading the book daily and mirrored the theme with daily activities that associated with the story, this ranged from exploring the fruits from the book at Snack time by choosing and cutting our own fruit, printing them in paint, creating our own pictures of the caterpliiar and butterflies and some matching the fruits to the pictures for which we had to use lots of concentration 🐛🍉🍎🍐🍊🍉🐛

As the weather gets warmer we begin to explore more sensory and wet play in our great outdoor space.... here is a selection of activities we did last week including our French lesson 😁

We had so much fun exploring we explored by touching, tasting, tapping, looking etc
We noticed the marks left behind on the table and enjoyed mixing the 2 colour's together.

Today at nursery we explored the artic ice activity and the textured seaside.
Some of the ways we explored the activities was by touching, feeling, looking, tasting, mixing, tapping and hitting.
We used our communication skills whilst exploring the activities eg "its cold, look its cold, tap tap tap, seashells, wow" (using words in play and putting words together)
Some of us had fun tasting the ice so next week we will be making our own coloured and flavoured ice lollies to eat.

This week in circus room we have focused on the story called " The very hungry Caterpillar" The children have loved listening to the story and began joining in, repeating the words or filling in the gaps. So today we brought the story to life! Using lots of different materials for each section of the story. They especially loved trying new fruit and participated in various activities linked to the story. 🐛🦋🍉🍎🍐🍊

Today at nursery the babies have been exploring the edible artic ice activity and the textured seaside.
Some of the way we explored the activities was touching, feeling, looking, tapping, hitting and tasting.
We had so much fun breaking the frozen ice to release the toys and then some of us had to dig dig dig into the sand to find the hidden shells.
We used our communication skills whilst exploring the activities eg "its cold" "look its cold" "seashells" "wow" "tap tap tap" (using words and putting words together)

This week across our toddler room we have been exploring the great outdoors and trying to perfect our fine gross motor skills by threading, using playdoh, placing the elastics around the dinosaur necks and early mark making

Today Pre - School have been busy making England flags ready for the football match on sunday! During circle time we talked about the match, what colour our flag was and also what we wear! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

GO GO ENGLAND

On Thursday at nursery the babies have been making England football flags and playing with a range of footballs/balls of different size and colours.
Here are some of our pictures when we was being creative at nursery we had lots of fun gluing/sticking and painting.
We enjoyed listening and singing children's football songs.
We repeated words and phrases eg. "Football" "coming home" "hurray"

As some of our babies have not been able to visit the seaside we thought we'd bring the seaside to nursery☺️
We have been very creative by exploring different types of seasides. On Monday we explored a safe and edible seaside for our little babies which was made from blue gloop and rice krispies.

We had lots of fun exploring by tapping, digging, throwing and looking.
Some of us scooped the pretend Sand and gloop into a bucket and then tipped it back out again repeatedly.
We made sounds by babbling and using one words whilst exploring. 👏
