The Guild of Students is the students' union for over 38,000 students at the University of Birmingham. We'll help you make the most of university life!

Our Volunteer of the Month is... Leah from Pilates 🥳

“We have been successfully running sessions each week since starting up. We came from save a society so committee have worked tirelessly to encourage engagement and spread knowledge of sessions. Despite starting in the middle of the year and being a slight disadvantage we have made the most out of it and been able to excel.

We have held many taster sessions and had students volunteer out of their own time to teach our sessions to save resources on outsourcing. We believe that our society has made a great impact and created a new community that helps physically and mentally.”

Congratulations Leah!

What is your voting day plan for the upcoming General Election on 4 July? 👀

By considering where you’ll be voting (at home, in Birmingham or somewhere else) and whether you’ll be voting in-person - you can put plans in place to ensure you’re registered at the correct address 🏠

⏰ In order to vote, you must first register to vote by 11:59pm on Tuesday 18 June: https://ow.ly/nYOS50SiFF3

🗳 If you can’t vote in-person on 4 July or are likely to experience changes to your address during this time owing to moving house, you can either:

➡ Apply for a postal vote by 5pm on 19 June
➡ Apply for a proxy vote (this is where someone votes on your behalf) by 5pm on 26 June

Don’t forget you must be registered to vote first in order to apply for a postal or proxy vote - learn more: https://www.guildofstudents.com/generalelection/

The Volunteer of the Month for March is … Lucy from Sexpression!

“Sexpression started back up this year after being on save a society. We have managed to grow the branch with an entirely new committee and in March hosted both our training day and our 'Big Sexy Quiz'.

At our training day we taught university students how to teach inclusive s*x and relationship education in local schools. At our 'Big Sexy Quiz' night we raised £120 for Breast Cancer UK as well as running a fun but informative quiz all about s*xual health.”

Congratulations Lucy!

The Society of the Month Winner for March is...the Criminology Society 🥳

“This is the month where we held our long-awaited annual spring ball and it was a huge success. This was the biggest and best ball yet in all our years of holding the event and we are super happy with how it went and we received some amazing feedback from our members about all aspects of the night.

We put our absolute all into this and it had been in the works since November so we are so happy to see our hard work pay off and for our members to have had an unforgettable time”

Congratulations Criminology Society!
