Blossoms Day Nursery

I was disappointed that I was unable to find a nursery which met my high standards when looking to return to work after having my twins in 2011.

Blossoms was my dream nursery, with an aim to providing everything, as a mother myself, I felt like minded parents would want for their children and themselves. As a qualified nursery nurse myself and my husband coming from a role as a senior managements role in a primary school, we were seeking an exceptional quality of care and education which mirrored our own values as pa

We are super excited to be opening our fifth setting in the chain. It all started with a vison for Blossoms’s in Great Barr 10 years ago. Thankyou to everyone who has supported us on our journey.

We now operate in the following areas Great Barr, Pelsall, Cannock, Langley and Rushall.

Today is National Handwriting Day.
Lots of experiences have been available to the children today to support their literacy development.
Whilst our younger children were able to make marks by scribbling and drawing using a variety of materials our older children engaged in activities where they formed recognisable letters and wrote their names.
The children were very proud to show each other their achievement’s during our group time where we come together and discuss our daily activities and what we have learned.
Our babies were able to develop their fine motor skills and early mark making by making patterns in different media.

Good morning
We are holding our first open day of 2024 on the 10th of February between 11am and 2pm.

Our owner Claire will be there to talk about how Blossoms started and what it means to her and the local community.

Our manager Sue will be on hand to answer all things teaching and learning and what a quality education looks like.

Our area business manager Jordi will be there to break down all things funded.

We will be joined by our staff team who will showcase our wonderful rooms.

Your children will be able to meet our pets and enjoy refreshments, whilst getting to know their potential new Blossoms family.

We have a small number of spaces that could have immediate start dates, and we have a selected number of funded spaces to start in the upcoming April term.

There’s no need to book an appointment, unless you require a specific time slot.

This week we have been very busy getting involved in The Big Bird Watch.
The children have had lots of learning experiences and discussions looking at all the different birds we see in our gardens.
We talked about habitat and feeding then looked at which birds were the biggest and the smallest birds. We even discovered that some birds don’t fly
Lots of creativity could be seen too when children made and drew their own birds.
Cooking opportunities were introduced by making birds nest cakes. Yummy.

This week we have welcomed back our little Blossoms after the Christmas break and said hello to some new friends.
The children have explored play dough, made cakes, got creative with sticking and gluing, explored the garden and talked about emotions.
We also welcomed back Rainbow Rhyme, Pyjama Drama and our sports couch this week.
It was lovely to see the children pleased to see their friends and enjoy looking after our newest additions to the Blossoms family.

Lots of fun was also had enjoying Gingerbread play dough and finishing the day off with some warm hot chocolate.

Today the children have enjoyed a morning of Reindeer activities. They made place cards where they had to find their own stick antlers, Reindeer soup and their own food to give the Reindeers on Christmas Eve.

They then all sat down to enjoy Christmas lunch with all the trimmings. We thank Vanessa for all her hard work to provide such a lovely meal and pudding for the children.

Today our Blossoms have been very creative, they have made their very own bauble Christmas decorations. They choose what they wanted to put in their baubles while exploring the different textures and smells.

Some of the children also used lots of concentration to make Christmas trees and explore playdough stations.

Today we had a special visitor to the nursery - Elf.

Elf brought a special gift for the children to make to take home. The children had lots of fun making their own wreaths using the natural resources of their choice.

Elf helped them with the activity and even came back in the afternoon to do some dancing with them.

We started with introducing our new staff to the team, followed by an ice breaker to allow us to switch off from the day, it was full of laughter and conversation.

We discussed our OFSTED visit, focus children, and the plans for Christmas week.

We got excited for our Christmas night out on Saturday and exchanged gifts. The team received awards from the management and a little treat.

This month Sunita was our employee of the month, given for all her support she gives to our nursery.

Today we had our OFSTED party!

We are over the moon to have received a GOOD rating from ofsted and today we celebrated.

Our children have had parties, with the team. They enjoyed yummy party food and danced to music, they laughed with their friends and we took lots of photos for our memory book.

Our cook Vanessa baked us cakes for every parent to thank them for supporting us through our ofsted journey.

Now it’s time to get ready for Christmas, creating some more special memories. We can’t wait to welcome our new families to Blossoms in the new year.

This week the children have been learning all about trees as it’s National Tree Week.

They have been listening to stories about trees, collecting leaves to make their own pictures and drawing their very own trees.

Cherries have even made a Wow moment tree to celebrate all the special events children achieve in their room.

🎉🎉🎉We have some amazing news!🎉🎉🎉

We can finally share the news that our latest OFSTED report is now finalised and we have been graded as GOOD!

The day was lovely and a totally positive experience. Receiving the grade GOOD is a true reflection of our setting and one we are proud of!

The inspector wasn’t a stranger to Blossoms as she opened our setting back in 2016.

To read this new report with opening comments such as “ Staff are kind and caring and give children the cuddles and reassurance they need. This helps children to be confident, happy, and settled in the care of the staff”. This really makes us feel proud.

Another comment along the teaching and learning section reads “. Staff have a clear understanding of what they want children to learn. They plan a relevant curriculum that meets the individual needs of the children.”

Again, we believe this shows a true reflection of the passionate, friendly team we now have at Blossoms.

We can’t wait to celebrate next week and to now enjoy Christmas with all our children.

We thank you all for your continued support, your kind words, loyalty, and for trusting us. We appreciate you all!

Love always

The Management and Staff team x

Around all the activities the staff have used aged appropriate language to teach the children all about road safety.

Blossoms Remember - Lest we Forget

At nursery we have been learning about remeberance day - the children had a range of experiences and opportunities for quality conversations to encourage remembrance. We talked about the Poppy and how this is a symbol of Remembrance Day - we loved sharing the story “where the Poppies now Grow”

Our nursery pets are an important ritual in the children’s day.

Children know that daily they need to be fed and watered. Today Willows and Cherries helped to cut up their food and learnt about how they need their nails cut and have to be brushed.

Their learning was further extended by the children drawing and being able to describe what they have drawn.

On Friday we hosted our annual Soup and Sparklers evening.

Thank you to all the parents that attended, and especially to our cook Vanessa for the lovely pumpkin soup.

The evening was a great success and it was lovey to see parents being able to interact with their children in the nursery environment. We really enjoy this opportunity to be able to welcome parents into the setting for a relaxed and informal get together.

Last night we held our first parents evening of the academic year.

We had so much positive feedback about the care and attention children receive from staff together with our new focus child teaching and learning. It was lovely for staff to be able to share their knowledge of their key children with parents and discuss the children’s next steps and development.

Thank you to all the staff and parents for attending.

amazing staff.

This weekend we had our annual September training.
We focused on teaching and learning and how we will be planning for and meeting the needs of our children.
We discussed the difference between a need and an interest of the child, and along with the teams knowledge of their key children how they can really make an impact.

We discussed the ’Three I’s’ , parent participation, and looked at the teachers standards.

The team had a brilliant informative training day, delivered by The Early Years Company

Thank you to the team for focusing on our Saturday training to ensure we reach the best outcomes for our Blossoms.

Today we have been celebrating World Population Day.

We have looked at how we are all different, the different homes people live in around the world, the different clothes we wear and the languages we can speak.

The theme this year is unleashing gender equality and Magnolias have looked at the different jobs we all do and how it doesn’t matter if you are a boy or girl we can all be the same.

Vanessa cooked us a Caribbean meal of Jerk Chicken and Rice and a traditional Polish Babka cake.

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Stephanie and Donna from the The Curiosity Approach at Blossoms.

It was so lovely to show them around our setting and to showcase how much love, care and passion goes into each day at Blossoms.

Stephanie said it was clear to see how engaged both staff and children are at Blossoms and how having visitors in the setting didn’t change that.

Well done Blossoms team!
