“Don’t wish me Happy Independence!Independence was a scam!"
Na so I overheard Tade telling Tony yesterday ooo
He continued: "What we call independence is still a sophisticated cage."
"What we’re celebrating is still slavery with new branding!"
Omo e shock me too o!
I almost spilled my Zobo drink on my white shirt. 😂
Gobe!!
It was funny, sharp, somewhat malicious. Coming from a dissatisfied Nigerian youth.
Maybe a little too dramatic and unpatriotic you might say.
Yeah?
But you know what?
I think it was also brutally true & honest.
Because let’s face it—65 years later, independent from what to what exactly?
We left colonialism only to enter neocolonialism.
Different name, same chokehold.
White to black.
You can barely see the green.
Crippling economy.
Loan rates that cripple, you can’t fund your dreams.
Trade systems that exploit.
Policies that keep us perpetually dependent.
Unaccountable leaders.
The vicious cycle is appalling!
And the youths?! Argh!
You wanna add to the list? Be my guest in the comments!
And so, every October 1st we wear green and white…
but still groan under hardship, poor leadership, and a crashing economy.
But wait first, lets ask The bigger question:
How do you thrive in a rigged ecosystem?
Here’s the truth: human minds created this system.
And so, ONLY renewed human minds can dismantle it.
That’s where the real independence begins—not in flags or fireworks or emotional rhetorics, but in the emancipation of the mind.
A radical departure from regular programming and thinking: Metanoia.
Because no one is coming to save us.
No one.
It is Nigerians who will save Nigeria.
Africans who will rewrite Africa.
But only if we dare to think differently, activate our gifts, and reform broken systems with bold, visionary solutions.
Well, I am not all talks! Thankfully!🙄
That’s the heartbeat of the solutions my book Finding the Equilibrium offers—a prophetic call to rise above the chaos, reclaim balance, and build futures that align with destiny.
Along side that, I created the Visionary Mentorship Accelerator Program (VMAP)—to raise visionaries, misfits, and reformers who won’t settle for pseudo-freedom, but will craft true independence from the inside out.
I am a thorough bred Nigerian on a global mission.
So maybe Tade’s sarcasm wasn’t just funny—it was prophetic and pragmatic.
Maybe it’s the uncomfortable wake-up call we all need.
YES or yes?
So I invite you to wake up!
