Warwickshire County Council High Speed Two Limited (HS2 Ltd)

On Thursday 9th December, Headteacher Carl Lewis and teaching assistant Jenny Ward were joined in school by Susan Hartland-Smith and her team: Emily Reilly, Charmion Roberts and Freya Murray from the Tame Valley Wetlands and Warwickshire Wild Life Trust who are based at the Hams Hall Environmental Centre in Coleshill.

Children from the Year 6 classes worked with the group to plant over 200 native tree saplings provided by the The Woodland Trust They also planted 300 daffodils, snowdrops and bluebells as part of the schools Green-Up project to improve the school environments and to encourage more children and adults in the village to get involved with gardening.

The school also recently won a national 'Helping Your Community Grow' competition hosted by Dobbies Garden Centre and received gardening tools, bulbs, seeds and seed trays for every class as part of their £500 win.

Last day as a teacher after 32+ years and last day as the headteacher of Water Orton Primary after 16+years. Looking forward to new challenges as a ‘headteacher coach’ for Warwickshire County Council, but many memories, building a new school, lots of hugs and really kind wishes from all the children and the final carol service, when Vicar Paul had a dancing chicken in his head! That’s the thing with teaching - anything can happen! Happy days! The children and staff have been amazing! Enjoyed working with parents, governors and members of the community. Thank you all for 16 very special years. Merry Christmas!

A new Covid-19 Vaccination Clinic has opened in North Warwickshire. The new site, which is in North Warwickshire Borough Council's Civic Suite in their offices in Atherstone, opens to both walk-in and bookable appointments for Covid-19 vaccinations and boosters from tomorrow Wednesday 17th November 9am - 5pm.

Happy Birthday Water Orton Primary School! Today marks two years since the official opening of the new school. 🎂🎉

FYI

The M42 will be closed between J9 and J10 (northbound and southbound) for 7 days. The closure period will take place:

9pm on Friday 24 December (Christmas Eve) to 9pm on Friday 31 December 2021 (New Year’s Eve).

This is to facilitate BBV to complete works that will enable the Marston Box bridge to be moved into position in winter 2022.

A clearly signed diversion route will be in place over this period with advance signage in place to help remind motorists of the closure. You can still get to where you need to go but you’ll need to follow the diversion, plan ahead and leave more time for journeys.
