Under the baton of Jonathan Berman, the orchestra delivered a compelling programme featuring Martinů’s ‘Concerto for Double String Orchestra, Piano, and Timpani’, and Strauss’ ‘Metamorphosen’.
The world premiere of Michael Zev Gordon’s ‘A Kind of Haunting’, featuring baritone James Newby, was especially moving, offering a profound reflection on history and memory. A truly powerful and thought-provoking concert.

Saturday’s Barber Evening Concert was a choral masterpiece!
The BBC Singers and Birmingham University Singers, both under the direction of Bob Chilcott, delivered an eclectic program that captivated the audience.
Repertoire highlights included the world premiere of Michael Zev Gordon's ‘He Used to Say’, commissioned by University Music, ‘The Lamb’ by Polish composer Zuzanna Koziej, and Jonathan Dove’s ‘Ring out, wild bells’.
The choirs' collaboration created an unforgettable evening of musical brilliance!
