💇‍♀️ Salon Fun, Music, and Colours! 🎨

We’ve had so much laughter and creativity was flowing at Building Blocks Great Barr this week.

Our children turned the nursery into a luxury salon and loved giving our very brave staff a full hair wash treatment!

Beyond our spa day, the little ones had a blast experimenting with a mini accordion to make their own musical beats and loved mixing different paints together to see what new colors they could create. 🎨🎵

🛠️ Refurbishment Update at Great Barr!
Exciting news from Building Blocks Great Barr. Our nursery makeover is well underway!

All of the heavy building work is now officially completed, and we are moving on to the final touches. Next up, we are ready to redecorate and lay down brand-new flooring throughout the nursery to create a fresh, vibrant space for our little ones!

🦎 ZooLab Visited Building Blocks Great Barr! 🕷️
The brilliant team from ZooLab came to visit, and our brave little explorers loved getting up close with nature.

Our Extraordinary Guests Included:
🦎 A Bearded Dragon & Friendly Corn Snake – The children were so gentle as they stroked their scales and learned how they move.
🐌 A Madagascar Hissing Cockroach & Giant African Snail – We discovered how these amazing creatures feel and what they like to eat.
🕷️ A Tarantula – Everyone got a close-up look at this fascinating, eight-legged guest!

The children were so gentle as they touched and learned about these amazing creatures. It was a fantastic experience for boosting their confidence and curiosity. A massive thank you to ZooLab for such an unforgettable day!

🌳 Great Outdoors Month in Our Brand New Garden! ☀️
We’ve had the absolute best time celebrating Great Outdoors Month at Building Blocks Great Barr, making the most of the lovely weather in our brand new nursery garden!

Our little adventurers have loved exploring their fresh outdoor space and staying active with so many fun activities:
🏃‍♂️ Moving & Balancing: The children have been busy scootering around, balancing on new equipment, and zooming down the slides.
🧗‍♂️ Climbing & Building: Our fantastic new climbing frames and building blocks have been a massive hit for developing strength and teamwork.
🍳 Mud Kitchen & Reading: From whipping up muddy recipes to relaxing with favourite books in the sunshine, there's been something for everyone.

Spending time in the fresh air has been amazing for the children's physical skills, confidence, and wellbeing. We can't wait for a whole summer of fun in our new garden! 🪵🌼

🥪 Father’s Day Stay & Play at Great Barr! 💙
We had an absolutely brilliant time at Building Blocks Great Barr hosting our Father’s Day Stay & Play session!
It was wonderful to welcome so many amazing dads, grandads, and special father figures into the nursery to share a lovely afternoon with the children.

Our Stay & Play Highlights:
🥪 A Special Afternoon tea: Guests sat down with their little ones to enjoy a delicious afternoon tea together, catching up and sharing lots of smiles.
🎨 Card Making: The room was filled with creativity as the children and their dads worked together to design and decorate beautiful, handmade Father's Day cards.
🎈 Lots of Fun: From creating art to exploring the garden, everyone had a fantastic time playing and making memories together.

A big thank you to all the father figures who took the time to join us, you made the day incredibly special! Wishing you all a very happy Father's Day! 🥰

🌟 Qualified Level 3 Room Leader

Requirements: Minimum 12 months post-qualifying experience and a true passion for early years are essential. You will lead a team and nurture our littlest learners.

🌱 Qualified Level 3 Practitioner

Requirements: Must hold a full and relevant Level 3 childcare qualification. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to create magical, playful experiences.

🐝 Celebrating World Bee Day at Great Barr! 🌻
Our Tweenies and preschoolers had a "buzz-tastic" time celebrating World Bee Day last week! It was a fantastic way for our little learners to discover just how important these busy insects are to our planet.

Our bee-themed highlights:
🎨 Buzzing Crafts: The children got creative crafting their very own adorable bees using plenty of yellow and black paint and paper.

🔢 Count the Bees: We put our math skills to the test with a fun "count the bees" game, counting our fuzzy friends in a playful, hands-on way.

🌱 Flower Power: We also talked about how bees help our flowers grow and how we can look after them in our nursery garden.

🇬🇧 VE Day Tea Party at Great Barr! ☕🍰
We’ve had a wonderful time celebrating VE Day at Building Blocks Great Barr, last week!

Our Celebration Highlights:
🎨 Patriotic Art: Our little artists were very busy painting beautiful Union Jack hearts, as well as crafting their own Union Jack and English flags to wave with pride!

🥪 A Royal Tea Party: We sat down for a very special VE Day tea party, enjoying some delicious treats while learning about the importance of coming together and celebrating with friends. We even had a visit from our favourite bear... Paddington!

🌳 Big News: Our Brand New Garden is Open at Great Barr! 🚀
We are absolutely thrilled to finally unveil our incredible new garden area! It has been a total transformation, and seeing the children’s faces as they explored the new equipment for the first time was truly priceless.

What’s new in our outdoor wonderland?

⛴️ Ahoy Matey! Our brand new play boat is ready for departure, sparking endless imaginative journeys.

🍳 The Mud Kitchen & Cooking Station: Our little chefs are already busy "cooking" up a storm in their cool new outdoor kitchen.

🧗 Adventure Awaits: We have a fantastic new climbing frame to help develop those all-important motor skills and confidence.

🛠️ The Construction Shed: Our new play shed is fully stocked with fun construction toys for our budding builders and engineers!

A special thank you to Charlie and Family for donating the sand and water unit, the children love it! And thank you to all who supported us at our Christmas Fayre, as your fundraising helped to buy the boat and climbing frame. It truly means the world to us and will provide years of joy and learning for the children at Great Barr.

Outdoor play is such a vital part of the EYFS curriculum, and we are so proud to have this amazing space for our children to flourish!
