It was a "crazy-weather" day today - coats on, hoods up, hoods down, coats off, coats on, hoods up, hoods down... we didn't find many bugs but we found lots of PUDDLES!

Another day = another senses adventure and these are just some of the treasures we found...

On our Senses Adventure we listened to the squelchy mud and the splashy puddles, we used the Merlin app to identify the birds we could hear. We looked closely at snails, leaves and buttercups. We felt cool, smooth stones; soft, tickly grasses; squishy, furry moss and rough, bumpy bark.

This week the children have been learning about ducks and answering lots of what, where, when, how and why questions. We also enjoyed using the ID charts and binoculars and spotted swans, mallards, coots, canada geese and a moorhen.

This week we talked about super-fast Super Heroes. We learnt that a centipede would be a great Super Hero - it has lots of legs for rapid movement, long back legs for combat and defence, venom to immobolise prey and a bendy body that can change direction quickly to avoid being caught. On our adventures we worked together to create "Super Centipede" natural art using sticks and branches, and looked for real centipedes under dark, damp logs.
