ARONDIP PHARWAHA

As a Design Engineering student I am able to mix the creativity of design with the science of engineering! I conducted my year long placement at Jacobs Douwe Egbert, a multinational coffee company. I worked in the packaging team, designing coffee brewers and investigating biodegradable polymers for sustainable packaging.

My final year project is a bicycle trailer for commuters. The aim is to alleviate the challenges backpacks and panniers cause, which are micro-structural nerve damage and imbalance of the bicycle respectively. The solution provides a method for cyclists to attach a backpack securely to the trailer and once the journey is completed, detach the trailer, fold the attachment arms down and the wheels in.
The user would then wear the backpack with the trailer attached. You'll have to come to Aston Inspired to see how it all works!

JOCELYN FLEISCHER-BALLARD

My main interest is in CAD modelling using SOLIDWORKS and rapid prototyping using 3D printing. In my spare time I like to take part in Airsoft, an outdoor persuit which is similar to paintball but more realistic. For my final year project, I am investigating the feasibility of using home 3D printing to produce custom made equipment for Airsoft enthusiasts. I am developing a thermal imaging scope which can be built at home for a fraction of the cost of similar products already on the market.

Industrial Product Design Student, Ambitious Designer and Independent Video Producer aspiring to produce a product that has a positive effect on the World. Video editing starting off as hobby and becoming a profession. I am a Digital Ambassador (Video Production Artist), who creates and edits videos which are then published for the University, and control their social media accounts on a daily.
Due the increasing number of refugees around the world. My final year project focuses on bridging the gap between Syrian refugees whom struggle to communicate in the vernacular language in Turkey. Over the years, the influx of Syrian refugees has resulted into disputes between the two nations. The objective is to create a world where there are no language barriers when understating each other. This will be done through a language device that will enable both nations to interact and understand one another through written text and spoken language.

The power of creating new designs is a core component of my imagination that allows me to explore innovative products. The overflow of my creativity is challenged through undergoing interesting projects as part of my university degree and in industry. Analysis of given tasks drives my thinking further and critique focuses me to perfect my work. I am a tenacious individual who recognises the importance of completing given tasks in a timely manner. Teamwork is key to the success of any task undertaken. My ambition is to work hard and achieve through designing products for success and with purpose.

GEOFFEEY (CHI) WONG

Born in Hong Kong and influenced by the British culture, in love with furniture design. 'More connections, less screen time' is the vision of my final year project. I am aiming to reduce time spent on electronic devices while improving the quality of the time families spend together. My solution is to provide families a customized place to bond in a comfortable way while leaving their phones behind.

Plans are coming together for the 2018 Aston Inspired end of year degree show! The show will be held at Aston University Conference Centre on the 7th June. The event is open to all with ticket information on our website astoninspired.com

Product design is a unique career that enables me to become an expert in anything. In a single week I can move from calculating the intricacies of vehicle interiors to examining animal psychology. I thrive from immersing myself in varied topics and using my trained empathy skills to develop soulful products that make the world a more comfortable place for all.

For my Final Year project I am working with to create a haptic home security system for all ages and abilities.
